Subject: Scope of Work for NEXT-II Hutches Professional Engineering Services

1. The vendor shall perform a structural evaluation for three Experimental Enclosures (also known as ‘hutches’ or shielded enclosures). Hutches will be installed on the experimental floor inside the NSLS-II building (740) at BNL.

2. BSA Technical Representative shall provide complete hutch assembly drawings and dimensioned shop drawings for hutch panels as needed for the evaluation. Hutches listed in order of priority and availability of drawings.

a. Hutch 9-ID-A (BSA drawing PD-CDI-HU-1110)

b. Hutch 9-ID-B (BSA drawing PD-CDI-HU-1210)

c. Hutch 29-ID-A (BSA drawing PD-29ID-HU-1100)

3. Vendor shall provide an electronic copy of all reports for each hutch.

a. Completed Structural Evaluation Report bearing a NY PE stamp or seal and signature in accordance with NYS Education Law. The responsible engineer shall be licensed and currently registered to practice in the State of New York.

b. Structural evaluation shall be performed in accordance with applicable OSHA, New York State and local building codes.

c. Structural evaluation to include at a minimum.

i. Panel analysis

ii. Global Seismic analysis for complete hutch.

iii. Anchorage design

4. Structural evaluation and calculations to include the following the loads, but not limited to:

a. Self-weight

b. Static and dynamic loads for included hoist systems at maximum hoist load capacity requirements as indicated in each instance in the BSA drawings.

c. Live weight roof loading of 910 kg (2,000 lb) at any 760 mm x 760 mm (30 in. x 30 in.) area on the roof

d. Live roof loading of 500 kg/m2 (100 lb/ft2) uniformly distributed over the entire roof area

e. Loads of 730 kg (1,600 lb) per meter of linear cable tray/pipe length at any location on all Unistrut utilities roof-mounting provisions

f. Loads from stairs (if used, e.g., all FOEs)

g. The analyses shall include worst case superposition of all static and dynamic loads acting simultaneously.

h. Any other loads mandated by BCNYS

5. Value Engineering: The Engineer is encouraged to make recommendations for changes that might lead to an improvement in performance, reliability, quality, safety, or reduction in cost.
