Questions:
1. Pg 163 Windows (5 year installation warranty)
a. ANSWER: Provide two year warranty
b. CHANGE Section 084113 Part 1.6.A.1 to read as follows:

c. CHANGE Section 084113 Part 1.6.B.1 to read as follows:

2. Pg 178 Door Hardware (25 yrs on components) Provide 5 Year
a. ANSWER: Provide 5 year warranty.
b. CHANGE Section 087100 Part 1.7.C to read as follows:
“1. Five years for mortise locks and latches.
2. Five years for exit hardware.
3. Five years for manual surface door closers.”
3. Pg 179 Door hardware (6 month, continuous, full maintenance)
a. ANSWER: Remove requirement.

a. ANSWER: Provide 10 year warranty
b. CHANGE specification section 10100 part 1.6.A.2 to read as follows:

5. Pg 530 5 yrs install lighting (5 year installation warranty)
a. ANSWER: No change, there are several brands that provide at least 5 years (some 10) as their standard warranties as indicated.
6. The tile called out on the Finish Schedule (A602), Armstrong Random Fissured, does not come in a reveal edge for 9/16” grid, only trim edge for 15/16” grid. The spec (095113, page 2) calls the grid out to be 9/16”. Should the spec be changed to 15/16?
a. ANSWER: YES, Specification should be changed to 15/16” standard grid. Tiles are square edge (no reveal).
b. CHANGE Specification section 09 5113 part 2.3.A from 9/16” to 15/16”
7. I can’t find any specifications for the nine (9) acoustical wall panels.
a. ANSWER: ADD Specification Section 098550 – Decorative Acoustical Wall Panels See attached.
8. Specif. Section 101400- Signage, 2.2- Cast Letters, 2.3- Acrylic panel Signs. I can’t locate either one anywhere on the plans. Please confirm if they are required and if so how many and locations.
a. ANSWER: Provide the Following Signs at Building 112.
b. ADD Exterior Aluminum Lettering to be mounted on the Exterior of the building and
North Entry to Room 110. To read “PARKER HALL LECTURE CLASS”. Confirm wording with owner during submittals.
c. ADD Interior Acrylic Signage as Follows:
i. Male and Female ADA designation signage at restrooms 104A & 104B.
ii. Janitors room Sign at 104C.
iii. Classroom Designation with changeable message insert at entry to lecture hall at door D110.
iv. “Mechanical Room – No Storage” at door D110A
v. “Storage” at door D109A
9. Specif. Section 115213- Projection Screens-Sheet A-602, equipment list calls for a Model 34524L which does not come with tab tensioning as call out in paragraph 2; 2.1-4 of the specifications---please clarify what is needed.
a. ANSWER: Provide model in equipment schedule.
b. DELETE Specification Section 115213 Part 2.1.A.4 – Tab Tensioning.
10. Specif. Section 122413- Roller Window Shades - Paragraph 2.3- operation. – motorized is only available option, hand crank override in not available. Paragraphs 2.3 and 2.4 reference both light filtering and light blocking fabric--- please clarify which type you want.
a. ANSWER: Motorized option only is acceptable for all shades if hand crank is not available.
For Building 112, there are two types of shades to be provided. For Skylights provide motorized Blackout shade only per detail B4/A601 (single roller shade).
b. ADD Dual Roller shade for Door D110C sidelight. This shade will have light filtering and light blocking shade as specified.
11. Sheet AD-100- Demolition in existing Restroom 104; note 20 indicates removing all floor & wall tile and prepping walls for new tile. This could be quite an arduous task, very messy and time consuming trying to remove it from the existing block walls. – would it be acceptable to laminate a cementious backer board over the existing block walls to achieve a smooth substrate for the new tile?
a. ANSWER: No please remove the tile as indicated. The floor area of the room is needed to ensure accessibility requirements for the restrooms are met.
12. Also, the north and west walls of Janitor 104 would need to be a drywall product, since it will not receive a tile finish.
a. ANSWER: Wall is existing and will receive a FRP panel finish as indicated. No change.
13. Sheet PD-101- note 3; makes mention of an existing gas line in a crawl space. Does the entire building have a crawl space under it and if so is it accessible to make the plumbing modifications at the restroom location?
a. ANSWER: Existing drawings are limited and we have limited knowledge of entire underground crawlspace. The exiting crawlspace is approximately 36” and is believed to extend under a large portion of the building and the restrooms in question. Regardless of extent contractor shall be responsible for all needed repairs, connections, and modifications needed to complete the work indicated on the drawings.
14. Sheet A-100, detail A1, note 8; specifically indicates (2) 6x4 white boards--- plan sheet seems to indicate a total of 3? Can we confirm whether there needs to 2 or 3?
a. ANSWER: Three total White boards should be installed in Classroom 105, two on the West wall and one on the South wall.
15. Sheet A-102, detail C1, note 7; shows one (1) sanitary napkin disposal in the Men’s 104B----should it be in Women’s 104A and should there be 1 or 2 called for?
a. ANSWER: Remove Sanitary Napkin Disposal from Men’s room 104B. Provide two Sanitary
Napkin disposals in Women’s Restroom 104B (one at each water closet). Locate as indicated in C2 mounting heights.
16. Sheet A-101, detail C1—shows a Door D1 at Janitor 104C. ---is it the same as Door D104C called out in the door schedule on Sheet A-602?
a. ANSWER: Yes, door D1 at Janitors room 104C is door D104C on the A-602 Door Schedule.
b. CHANGE door number on Sheet A-101 Janitor’s room 104C from D1 to D104C.
17. Sheet C-101, note 7--- states “Brick Pavers to match Type and color of similar site brick paving on campus” Where are the existing pavers located, are there any patterns or just a solid color in the new pavers? Or do you just want to specify a new paver?
18. Sheet A-102, Note 9 –calls for a semi-recessed towel dispenser/ waste receptacle. There is no specification for this unit?
a. ANSWER: In Lieu of the combination towel dispenser and trash receptacle provide a separate towel and trash. Mount towel dispenser above trash receptacle in same position as combo unit. Also please modify other accessories. Please provide accessories listed below

19. On sheet A101, keyed note #7: the last sentence mentions “… provide auditory assistance functionality…” Does this refer to hard-of-hearing-assistance equipment? There was none of that type of equipment specified.
a. ANSWER: Yes, the contractor shall provide hard-of-hearing assistance equipment.
b. ADD part # LS-46-072 Listen Classic Level III Stationary RF System (72 MHz) to Equipment schedule on sheet A-601.
20. Please provide the podium spec given, cannot find a product matching this description.
a. ANSWER: Podium shall be coordinated with electronics package indicated in drawings and shall be custom built to provide for all items. Contractor shall match existing podium design (see attached) as close as possible and shall submit shop drawings in accordance with specification section 064113 – Wood Veneer Faced Architectural Cabinets (Attached).
Please note this podium design supersedes previous photos sent out under Addendum
Three.
21. Can fixed seating be used in lieu of the “Signet” tables indicated in the drawings as long as it is similar and has electronic raceway and desktop power access similar to “Signet” table?
a. ANSWER: Yes fixed seating with same properties as “Signet” table is acceptable.
See substitutions.
b. REVISE Keynote 4 on A1/A101 to read “COMPUTER TABLE, ANCHOR TO FLOOR
AT TWO LEGS, TYPICAL. SEE FURNITURE SCHEDULE SHEET A-602.”
SUBSTITUTION REQUESTS:
1. Please find the attached substitution request and the associated brochure on Sedia Systems, Inc.
We would like to bid the lecture room tables on the above referenced project. There is no specification. However, the drawings do call out a “Signet” computer table. Our “fixed” table system would be an excellent candidate for this application. We offer all the electrical/data component integration required.
a. ANSWER: Yes a fixed table would be acceptable. All dimensions should match “Signet” table and contractor shall be responsible to ensure that all electrical power and data are integrated in similar fashion to Signet table. Construction quality and finishes shall be comparable to “Signet” table.
2. Stanley Hinges; Best 45H locks; Precision Apex 2000 exit devices; and Stanley D4550 and D1650 door closers.
a. ANSWER: Stanley Hinges; Best 45H locks; Precision Apex 2000 exit devices; and Stanley
D4550 and D1650 door closers are approved. All general and performance specification requirements must still be met.
3. Manko Product Substitution Request
a. ANSWER: Manko Windows 2450FS Series, 135i, and 150i series are approved. All general and performance specification requirements must still be met.
4. I would like to send a substitution request over to get CertainTeed Acoustical Ceilings and
Chicago Metallic Grid approved as an equal to the Armstrong called out.
a. ANSWER: Certainteed Performa Versastone white Vintage and ceiling tiles and Chicago
Metallic 1200 Series 15/16” Exposed Grid are acceptable.

2.6 MISCELLANEOUS MATERIALS

B. Anchors: Select material, type, size, and finish required for each substrate for secure anchorage.
Provide metal expansion sleeves or expansion bolts for post-installed anchors. Use nonferrous-metal or hot-dip galvanized anchors and inserts at inside face of exterior walls and at floors.
C. Adhesives: Do not use adhesives that contain urea formaldehyde.
D. Adhesives: Use adhesives that meet the testing and product requirements of the California
Department of Health Services' "Standard Practice for the Testing of Volatile Organic
Emissions from Various Sources Using Small-Scale Environmental Chambers."

2.7 FABRICATION
A. Complete fabrication, including assembly and hardware application, to maximum extent possible before shipment to Project site. Disassemble components only as necessary for shipment and installation. Where necessary for fitting at site, provide ample allowance for scribing, trimming, and fitting.
B. Shop-cut openings to maximum extent possible to receive hardware, appliances, electrical work, and similar items. Locate openings accurately and use templates or roughing-in diagrams to produce accurately sized and shaped openings. Sand edges of cutouts to remove splinters and burrs.
2.8 SHOP FINISHING
A. General: Finish architectural wood cabinets at fabrication shop as specified in this Section.
Defer only final touchup, cleaning, and polishing until after installation.
B. Finish Materials: Use finish materials that meet the testing and product requirements of the
California Department of Health Services' "Standard Practice for the Testing of Volatile
Organic Emissions from Various Sources Using Small-Scale Environmental Chambers."
C. Preparation for Finishing: Comply with referenced quality standard for sanding, filling countersunk fasteners, sealing concealed surfaces, and similar preparations for finishing architectural wood cabinets, as applicable to each unit of work.
1. Backpriming: Apply one coat of sealer or primer, compatible with finish coats, to concealed surfaces of cabinets.
D. Transparent Finish:
1. Grade: Custom.
2. Staining: Match approved table color.
3. Open Finish for Open-Grain Woods: Do not apply filler to open-grain woods.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.1 PREPARATION
A. Before installation, condition cabinets to average prevailing humidity conditions in installation areas.
3.2 INSTALLATION
A. Grade: Install cabinets to comply with same grade as item to be installed.
B. Install cabinets level, plumb, true, and straight. Shim as required with concealed shims. Install level and plumb to a tolerance of 1/8 inch in 96 inches (3 mm in 2400 mm).

C. Scribe and cut cabinets to fit adjoining work, refinish cut surfaces, and repair damaged finish at cuts.
D. Anchor cabinets to anchors or blocking built in or directly attached to substrates. Secure with countersunk, concealed fasteners and blind nailing. Use fine finishing nails or finishing screws for exposed fastening, countersunk and filled flush with woodwork.
E. Cabinets: Install without distortion so doors and drawers fit openings properly and are accurately aligned. Adjust hardware to center doors and drawers in openings and to provide unencumbered operation. Complete installation of hardware and accessory items as indicated.
1. Install cabinets with no more than 1/8 inch in 96-inch (3 mm in 2400-mm) sag, bow, or other variation from a straight line.
2. Fasten wall cabinets through back, near top and bottom, and at ends not more than 16 inches (400 mm) o.c. with No. 10 wafer-head screws sized for not less than 1-1/2-inch
(38-mm) penetration into wood framing, blocking, or hanging strips.
F. Touch up finishing work specified in this Section after installation of woodwork. Fill nail holes with matching filler where exposed.
