AS/SVE Design

INSTALLATION

Contractor will be required to supply/perform the following:

• Soil vapor extraction blower mechanical and control equipment and housing unit for year round operation.

• Blower capable of delivering 500 scfm at 60 inches of water vacuum.

• Thermal/catalytic oxidizer system for treatment of collected vapors from the SVE system.

• Ancillary equipment associated with operation of SVE blower system. This includes flowmeters, temperature gauges, vacuum gauges, valves, vacuum relief valve, water knockout, etc.

• SVE system interconnected to the AS system such that the AS system will automatically shut down if the SVE system stops operating. SVE system will automatically shut down in the case of high liquid level in the knockout tank, excessive vacuum, excessive blower temperature.

• Connection from the existing SVE manifold to the blower.

• Connection to the local electric power company. Three-phase power is available on site.

• Installation of 15 air sparge wells. Figure 1 presents the locations of the new air sparge wells as well as proposed lateral airline locations. Figure 2 presents the air sparge wellhead detail.

• Air sparging compressor capable of delivering 300 scfm of air at 30 psi. Air sparge system will have an after cooler and appropriate flowmeters, pressure gauges, and temperature gauges.

• AS system will automatically shut down in the case of excessive pressure, excessive blower temperature.

• The AS/SVE system will have a telemetry system that at a minimum will notify the operator if the system has shutdown.

• Air sparge manifold will be 1-inch diameter steel piping and will contain 16 legs.

Each leg will supply an individual air sparge well. Each leg will contain a control valve to regulate flow to the air sparge well, a pressure gauge, and a flowmeter.

The flowmeter must be capable of measuring a flowrate of between 0 and 20 scfm.

• Air sparge lateral piping will be buried 12-inches below grade.

• Disposal of all waste.

SYSTEM OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE

12 months of AS/SVE system monitoring.

Monthly monitoring of SVE and off-gas treatment system.
