Statement Of Work

Wapato Irrigation Project Canal Gates 2022

1. Delivery Location and Delivery Instructions

The materials will be delivered to the storage yard adjoining the Wapato Irrigation

Project office (WIP), which is located at 413 S. Camas Ave, Wapato, WA 98951.

At the Supplier’s expense, the Supplier shall deliver the goods to the WIP yard. WIP will provide an operator and forklift for unloading the canal gates. The canal gates are to be delivered between the date of contract award and October 28, 2022. Deliveries shall be only between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., Monday through Friday (excluding federal holidays). A 24-hour notice shall be required prior to delivery of goods.

Notification means making personal contact not just leaving a phone message.

2. Delivery and Installation

Contractor shall complete the contract by October 28, 2022. Contract completion occurs when materials are delivered and accepted by the WIP. The WIP will provide the Supplier with a letter of acceptance.

3. Specifications

3.1. Standards:

3.1.1. Canal Gates must comply with the current AWWA, SAE, ASME, ANSI, ISO, AEM, and any other applicable federal standards.

3.1.2. Canal Gates must meet current AWWA C560 standards

3.2. Canal Gates:

3.2.1. Examples of acceptable Canal Gate models include, but are not limited to, the following: Fresno Valves and Casting, Inc Series 6600 slide gate

Model 101C, or Waterman Industries Model C-10 Canal Gate, XCAD

USA, Model X-Gate Canal Gates.

3.2.2. Frame Height: shall be measure from the center of the gate opening to the top of the head rail.

3.2.3. All gates shall have machined cast iron seating faces.

3.2.4. All gates shall have a rising stem.

3.2.5. Stem treads shall be rolled, double lead, acme screw threads

3.2.6. Gate Materials:

3.2.6.1. Gate cover, frame ring, adjustable wedges and hand wheel shall be made of cast iron ASTM A126, Class B.

3.2.6.2. Guide rails, head rail, stem guides and frame supports will be constructed of A 36 steel.

3.2.6.3. Lift nut shall be made of bronze B-584, C86500 or Brass B-16, C36000

3.2.6.4. Stem shall be made of stainless-steel type 304 or 316.

3.2.6.5. All bolts, nuts and washers shall be steel ASTM A307.

3.2.7. Gate Coatings

3.2.7.1. All cast iron parts shall be cleaned (removal of loose rust, mill scale, dirt, grease and paint) and coated with a minimum of two mills of alkyd enamel or two-part epoxy paint.

3.2.7.2. All gate frames shall be cleaned and galvanize per ASTM

A153/A153M.

3.2.7.3. All bolts shall be galvanized ASTM A153/A153M standards.

3.2.8. Gate Design

3.2.8.1. All gates must be design and constructed to operate with the following Maximum Seating Heads: 6”-24” gates 23 feet of head, 30”-36” gates 11 feet of head, 42”-48” gates 9 feet of head, 54”-72” gates 6 feet of head with a maximum effort of 40 pounds on the hand wheel.

3.2.8.2. The gate stem and stem guides/supports shall be designed so that the l/r ratio of the unsupported length of the stem will not exceed 200 under the calculated design loads.

3.3. See Bid Schedule for frame heights, flat back, or spigot back, gate size and quantity.

4. Warranty

4.1. All materials delivered to the WIP will be warranted for a minimum of one year from the date of contract completion or by the manufacturer’s standard warranty whichever is longer.
