STATEMENT OF WORK

Service Level 3 HPGE Detector Repair (1076-1701)

1. Background. PSNS & IMF uses High Purity Germanium (HPGE) detectors to support sample and item analyses for radioactivity. Detectors require periodic maintenance and repair to keep its reliability and accuracy. Its maintenance and repair can only be performed by the manufacturer hence the requirement for contractual support.

2. Scope. Contractor will provide Service Level 3 – DETSERV-3 repair for 1 each HPGE detector (S/N 11299) including a new endcap and performing special U-Style Cryostat Weldment repair. After the repair is complete, the contractor will perform an ISOCS/LabSOCS Characterization – ISOXCAL to the HPGE Detector to bring it up to manufacturer’s optimum operating parameters..

3. Objective. To bring up 1 HPGE Detector (S/N 11299) to its optimum manufacturer’s operating parameters.

4. Tasks.

4.1. Service Level 3 – DETSERV-3- Standard Electrode Germanium Detector Repair:

4.1.1. Diagnosis and restoration

4.1.2. Element repair (as required)

4.2. Replacement of Detector Components

4.2.1. New end cap – Std Al with 3.75” diameter

4.3. 7094014 DSERF-SPECIAL Repair

4.3.1. U-Style Cryostat Weldment to repair damage

4.4. ISOCS Characterization

4.4.1. ISOXCAL

4.4.2. ISOCS Check source

5. Delivery. Contractor shall return a fully functional (i.e. performing at OEM optimum operating parameters and electrically cooled) furnished qty 1 ea HPGE Detector (S/N 11229) to following address after completion of tasks described above:

Government-furnished property. Government will deliver 1 ea HPGE Detector (S/N 11299) to manufacturer.
