About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document for federal contract opportunity 80NSSC26933445Q-1 regarding the purchase of an MSMS-VCSEL Laser system. The document does not address specific response dates, award dates, pricing terms, or set asides, as it functions solely to clarify technical and logistical requirements through vendor inquiries.
The government has clarified key requirements: the swept source laser must support a minimum sweep rate of 1 MHz, with multiple sweep rates considered optional but eligible for evaluation at a higher price point. A photodetector must be provided meeting minimum specifications but does not require integration into the system. The total quantity needed is one unit with no multi-year procurement schedule specified. Regarding lead time, while the original specification called for 2-3 months, the government indicated flexibility to accept delivery within approximately 4 months if necessary. This Q&A document provides guidance to prospective vendors to inform their proposals but does not constitute the formal solicitation requirements.

Q&A Document
80NSSC26933445Q-1– Purchase of MSMS-VCSEL Laser
Q: 1. Does the swept source needs to support all three different sweep rates?
2. Is the integrated balanced photodetector a must?
3. How many units are needed? This year, 2027, 2028?
1. The minimum requirement is a sweep rate of 1 MHz. Multiple sweep rates is a bonus but not a requirement. (Are we allowed to consider the option of multiple sweep rates in evaluation? I.e. I think we would be willing to pay more for multiple sweep rates but it is not a hard requirement)
2. A photodetector must be provided with the minimum requirements speciied, it does not necessarily need to be integrated
3. 1 unit
Q: What time frame or lead time would be expected / needed?
A: Well we speciied 2-3 months in the description but I suppose we could accept a longer lead time if needed – say 4 months?
