About this file
This Statement of Work (SOW) details a NASA-Johnson Space Center (NASA-JSC) membership with the Center for Space, High-Performance, and Resilient Computing (SHREC) for research support. The membership covers research in mission-critical computing from January 1, 2026 through December 31, 2026, and provides one graduate student equivalent to conduct research across three primary areas: high-performance computing, resilient computing, and space computing. SHREC will be responsible for accepting research topic inputs from NASA-JSC, assigning research personnel, performing associated research tasks, and providing research status updates at working group meetings and conferences.
The research will be conducted across multiple university locations, including University of Pittsburgh, Brigham Young University, University of Florida, and Virginia Tech. Research topics will focus on high-speed mission critical computing capabilities, fault injection and mitigation, redundancy, software fault tolerance, space architectures, networks, services, and systems that leverage commercial and radiation hardened/tolerant technologies. Each membership allows NASA-JSC to direct specific research topics through SHREC, enabling targeted computational and technological research to support mission-critical objectives.

STATEMENT OF WORK - SHREC
1. Objective/Requirements
The Center for Space, High-Performance, and Resilient Computing (SHREC) assists
NASA-JSC with research in mission critical computing needs. A membership allows
NASA-JSC to direct research topics performed through SHREC. Topics of research include high-performance computing (high speed mission critical computing capabilities), resilient computing (fault injection and mitigation, redundancy, software fault tolerance, etc.), and space computing (space architectures, networks, services and systems that leverage commercial and radiation hardened/tolerant technologies).
2. Characteristics, Scope, and Specs
SHREC shall perform the following duties (note that each membership provides 1 graduate student equivalent for topical research as defined below):
• Accept research topic input from NASA-JSC.
• Assign research personnel to the NASA-requested topic(s).
• Perform tasks associated with the research topics identified by NASA-JSC.
• Provide research status at SHREC Working Group meetings and Conferences.
3. Place of Performance
Center for Space, High-Performance, and Resilient Computing – located at University of
Pittsburg, Brigham Young University, University of Florida, and Virginia Tech.
4. Period of Performance
SHREC membership is from January 1, 2026 through December 31, 2026.
