About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file for a NASA solicitation related to Pressure Transducers. The Q&A provides technical specifications for Wika brand pressure transducers with two specific pressure ranges: 0-160 psia and 0-3000 psia. Key technical details include a power supply of 0-30 VDC, an accuracy of ≤0.15% span, a 300 ms response time, and a 4-pin MIL-DTL-26482 bayonet connector. The transducers require a 4-20 mA output signal and are specified for single port/interface configuration with operating temperatures not exceeding 100°C and ambient temperatures not exceeding 40°C. The procurement is for commercial grade components, not space-grade, and the parts are needed to be installed in a system by mid-September, with no special qualification report required.

Q&A

Q: Do they have part numbers? Who was the manufacturer?

A: They are Wika brand. According to the quote I got from Ryan Herco Flow Solutions (the one submitted with the PR), the manufacturer part number is #76247721 for the 0 – 160 psia ones and #76247722 for the 0 – 3000 psia ones.

1) What supply voltage does the sensor need? The power supply is 0 – 30 VDC.

2) What accuracy does the sensor require? The Wika pressure transducers have an accuracy of less than or equal to 0.15 % span for RSS (root sum squares).

3) What response time does the sensor require? The Wika pressure transducers have a response time of 300 ms

4) Do you have an electrical pin-out for the Bayonet Connector? The 4 pin bayonet connector is MIL-DTL-26482. We do not require the vendor supply the mating electrical connection.

1. Is 28v Input acceptable (you provided a current sense output of 4-20mA). No, we require an output signal of 4 – 20 mA.

2. We will assume these are both absolute (single port/interface) pressure transducers (as opposed to differential which would need two ports). These are single port interface.

3. The environment provided is related to the hazards (e.g. flammable gases) that may leak into the location of the transducer. Do you have temperature details for max operating and ambient? Operating temperature will not exceed 100 C. Ambient temperature will not exceed 40 C.

4. Please note our transducers are not typically off-the-shelf and need to have material ordered. Do you know if this is a “space” application and if it has any radiation requirement? For instance, if man-rated and going to space we would choose Space Grade/Level 1 with some radiation hardened electronic components to ensure highest reliability material for the mission. Please advise what you can here. Commercial grade EEE vs Space Grade have significantly different lead times. Thanks! This is not a space or flight component.

Commercial grade is good.

5. When do you need the parts? As soon as possible. They need to be installed in our system by beginning to mid-September the latest.

6. Will you need a qualification report? FYI: Most of our space applications have enough data to bring a report together, but if there are any requirements that are not met for your spec (shock, vibration, etc.), we would have to run some kind of validation depending upon your application and your customer’s requirements. We do not require a special qualification report as these will not be used for flight.
