About this file
This statement of work outlines requirements for a replacement Thermacast Vaporizer system. NASA's Glenn Research Center requires an exact duplicate of an existing vaporizer unit to be installed, as the original unit from Chart Inc. is no longer reliably controlling temperatures due to failing heating elements. The replacement unit must have the same 60" x 36" x 20" electrical enclosure footprint and ASME code stamped design as the legacy system. Key specifications include twin 100 kW and 20 kW heating elements to vaporize and superheat liquid nitrogen. Chart Inc. must supply the unit based on the original plans and be responsible for any needed installation support or warranty repairs. NASA will perform the installation. The vaporizer must be delivered within 48 weeks of order placement to NASA's Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio. Payment terms are net 30 days.

STATEMENT OF WORK and SPECIFICATIONS for Thermacast Vaporizer
1. Statement of Work, Objective, or Requirements
The GRC B5, SE-11 Particulate Aerosol Laboratory (PAL) utilizes a Thermacast Vaporizer, developed by Chart Inc. (formally Thermax), that converts liquid nitrogen into gaseous nitrogen to simulate the environmental conditions at various temperatures. The vaporizer was installed in 2008, and due to the aggressive test schedule over the last fifteen years, the heating elements in the system are failing, making temperature control problematic. Given the amount of plumbing, wiring, and support hardware that is currently in place, a one-for-one exact duplicate replacement is required. Chart Inc.
created this custom design; therefore, we need the same manufacturer to supply the replacement based on the original plans and purpose. Using the same manufacturer and plans, this replacement installation will be completed quickly with little downtime and no changes to the existing facility equipment.
The legacy vaporizer was originally designed only for the Particulate Aerosol Laboratory, and no other manufacturer produces ASME spec vaporizers.
2. Specifications
NASA requires one specific replacement to the Vaporizer System L-159-12-1, meeting the specifications below. The new vaporizer system must include the existing unit's footprint and design specifications.
• Design Specifications o Electrical enclosure footprint: 60” x 36” x 20” o NEMA 12 with drip shield o ASME code stamped o Corrosion allowance: Zero o Twin 100 kW (vaporizer) & 20 kW (superheater) heating elements o Model # H18 & TT20 440V / 3 Phase / 60Hz
• Warranty or support - Chart Inc. will be responsible for installation support as needed and standard manufacturer’s warranty against defects.
• Installation will be performed by NASA. All inlet and outlet connections are in the exact location as the previous Vaporizer System L-159-12-1
• Quote must include all shipping, freight, and import/export fees, as applicable.
FOB Destination or FOB Origin Prepay & Add preferred. Please note shipping terms on the quote and include a line item for shipping cost if you request Prepay and Add.
• NASA requires NET 30 payment terms.
