Question #2: For Work Item #17 and #18 I cannot seem to find a commercially available exact replacement after trying many of our sources. Is there a source you can point me to that may have it or would the USCG accept a different fill cap fitting?
Answer #2: We are not aware of any sources that have the fitting found in the referenced drawings commercially available. Paragraph 3.2 in work items 17 & 18 do specify the contractor shall fabricate new fittings using the drawings.
“3.2 Renew. The contractor shall fabricate a new hydraulic fill cap and crop and renew the cap and deck fitting on the Flight Deck at Frame 162 using Coast Guard Drawings 905 WMEC 136-003, 905
WMEC 245-005, and 905 WMEC 245-010.”
“3.2 Renew. The contractor shall fabricate a new lube oil fill cap and crop and renew the cap and deck fitting on the Flight Deck at approximately Frame 110 using Coast Guard Drawings 905 WMEC 136-
003, 905 WMEC 262-008, and 905 WMEC 264-001 as guidance.”
Question #3: Work Item 9: What is the overall weight of the davit to be replaced?
Answer #3: WI 9: Overall davit weight – Tech Pub 4924 paragraph 1-4.1 says the crane weight is approximately 7550 lbs.
Question #4: Work item 19: Is the steel decking to be replaced located under the existing fan exhaust unit? Is any new underlayment or deck preservation required on the new steel decking?
Answer #4: WI 19: Nav Shop: No, we do not know the exact area, so we said up to 10 sq. ft. of metal to be renewed more as precautionary because we are unsure of the extent to which the metal has corroded. There was some pitting and noticeable distortion of the deck in a few areas. We will determine if and where deck renewal is required after UT shots. Underlayment and deck preservation requirements for compartment 02-106-0-Q are detailed in work item 26. In work item 26 the requirement specifies preservation and renewed underlayment in the Nav Shop.
