AUTOMATED SYSTEM TEST

PROCEDURES AND CHECK OFF LIST

The following test procedure is designed as a means for checking and verifying the proper operation of Engineer’s Alarm System for the State of Michigan. Detailed descriptions of the system, its operation and maintenance are contained in the Operation Maintenance Manuals.

Introduction:

The test procedures described herein are intended as a guide for the Officer in Charge, Marine Inspection for certification and required periodic inspection. Other standard inspections, such as operation, shutdown, and alarms for the SSDG and EDG systems (i.e. over speed trips, Low lube oil pressure, SSDG 37 psi, 8-10 psi EDG, High water temperature 212 degrees F) should be completed prior to commencing this procedure.

Note 1: When selecting and deselecting control station (SCR Control) at the MCR, care must be used to allow the contactors to fully set before continuing with new commands. This entails waiting 5-10 seconds before issuing new commands.

Note 2: Whenever an alarm is activated it will display on the appropriate window and it will be displayed on the alarm screen of the HMI screen located in the Stbd bay of the MCR Console. The alarm will also be printed provided the printer is on and has paper.

Note 3: Additional information for implementing this procedure (including location of devices) is in the Appendix located at the end of this procedure.
