1. QUESTION: Can you please provide more details on the storefront (note 15 on A-2)?
ANSWER: Provide standard Kawneer EnCORE® Framing System or an approved equal.
2. QUESTION: The note calls for double pane glass, is this required on an interior only installation?
Doors are typically single pane.
ANSWER: Even though these doors are interior, the double pane glass was specified to reduce sound transmission. Double pane glass is required and pricing should reflect double pane glass. Glazing is just standard glazing with no coatings, no low E or any other special requirements are required for glazing.
3. QUESTION: Also, please confirm the glazing does NOT need to meet ballistic specifications.
ANSWER: Glazing DOES NOT need to meet ballistic specifications.
4. QUESTION: Will the existing ACT need to be modified and a header need to be installed to receive the storefront at the top?
ANSWER: No modifications to the ACT are required. The storefront will be ceiling high. Installation should follow standard manufacturer’s instructions for installation.
5. QUESTION: Is there ACT on both sides of the storefront?
ANSWER: The existing ceiling remains and will remain on both sides of the storefront system.
6. QUESTION: Please confirm all notes that say 'ABA' are referencing accessibility code requirements, and please confirm this should conform to ANSI 117.1 2017?
ANSWER: Standards issued under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) address access in new construction and alterations to state and local government facilities, places of public accommodation, and commercial facilities. Similar standards apply under the Architectural Barriers Act (ABA) to facilities funded by the federal government. ABA, ADA and ANSI 117.1 2017 share the mutual goal of meeting accessibility code requirements.
7. QUESTION: Shower stall: Is there a specification/basis of design for the shower?
ANSWER: The basis of design is a 62”x33” Freedom ADA Roll in Shower or an approved equal. Link below.
https://www.freedomshowers.com/ADA-Showers-for-Handicapped-Accessibility/Wheelchair- Accessible-ADA-Roll-in-Showers/APFQ6233BFF875R
8. QUESTION: Is this a pre-fab unit to be installed, or will it be constructed out of wet bed and tile?
ANSWER: Refer to response to question 7.
9. QUESTION: Is shower expected to be barrier free and comply with ANSI 117.1 2017, i.e. also incude bench, grab bars, controls, etc.?
ANSWER: Refer to answer to question 7. Shower stall should include grab bars bench and controls.
10. QUESTION: If it is barrier free and flush with the floor, the VCT finish called out for the remainder of the restroom will fail. We suggest utilizing ceramic tile finish instead. If ceramic tile finish, please provide a basis of design/specification.
ANSWER: VCT is required by the agency and has been specified as such and the proposal should be submitted with VCT flooring. After award, if coordination of materials will not allow for proper ABA compliance due to grading issues, this will be addressed once construction award has been made.
11: QUESTION: Restroom cabinet: The lav component as drawn does not meet accessibility code;
would need a slanted panel below the lav rather than a base cabinet to allow wheelchair to roll in.
ANSWER: The configuration of the lavatory meets side approach requirements and will be installed as indicated on the drawings.
12: QUESTION: The countertop height is shown as 34", but we were not able to find anything made by Hampton Bay that would create a 34" high counter (stock items are for 36" high counter).
ANSWER: The Products specified for the lavatory and for that matter, any and all products specified under this contract solicitation are basis of design references. The counter is required to be a maximum 34” height to meet ABA Compliance. Other comparable products are acceptable that meet the basis of design materials called out in the drawings and specifications.
