Statement of Work for Histology Grossing Stations (2)

SCOPE

SAVHCS P&LMS (Histology Laboratory) requires two Grossing Stations as replacement for the current grossing stations which are obsolete with one station being nonfunctional.

The grossing stations in the Histology Laboratory are used by Pathology Residents and Histopathology Technicians for handling and sectioning (grossing) of patient tissue specimens. The specimens may be fresh or fixed in formalin preservative. The grossing station is equipped with a working surface, as well as a sink with running water and disposal for cleaning of specimens and a ventilation system to protect the resident / technician from toxic formalin fumes and odors.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

· Each station must be no larger than 70” L x 30” W x 84”H in order to fit both stations into the allotted space in the grossing room.

· Stainless steel construction is required to eliminate risk of rust from exposure to moisture and for ease of cleaning.

· Must include lighting above work area and at counter area.

· Must include ventilation system with exhaust connections less than or equal to 12” round, produce maximum exhaust of 700 cubic feet per minute, and must push air from the front to the back of the cutting surface to prevents formalin exposure to the operator.

· Must include system controller to monitor air flow and formalin collection in grossing station.

· Must include fume detection system with audible alarms to alert users of obstruction to airflow.

EQUIPMENT FUNCTIONALITY

· Height adjustability to accommodate users of varying heights between 5’ to 6’4”.

· Must include sink with running water with at least ½ horsepower garbage disposal which connects to facility plumbing located on right-hand side of grossing station.

· Must include pneumatic foot pedals for hands-free on/off control of faucet.

· The sink must have an attached hand-held rinse fixture to allow easy cleaning.

· Must include on-board formalin collection system on each station.

· Must include customizable pegboard with the following accessories:

· Computer monitor mount

· Requisition holder

· Marking dye holder

· Must have approximately 14” shelf and 7” shelf for supplies, for a total of 20” – 24” shelf space

· Glove bin

· Must include CPU adjustable mounting bracket

· Must include magnetic instrument bar

· Must include customizable mount for the following accessories:

· Document holder adjustable to eye level

· Right wing peg board

· Keyboard arm

· Monitor arm

· Work surface must be high quality stainless steel with removable perforated panels and cutting boards with removable legs.

· Must include cabinet doors to enclose leg space.

· Must include ventilated system trashcan with wheels to protect user from chemicals fumes.

· Must include writing ledge.

· Must include 2 small drawers.

· Must include 1 large drawer.

· Must include dictation stand.

INSTALLATION AND VALIDATION

· Vendor will confirm installation date at least 2 weeks prior to installation.

· Vendor will schedule shipping and delivery with call ahead confirmation of at least 48 hours.

· Vendor will meet truck at loading dock, uncrate all equipment and dispose of all crating materials.

· Vendor will move equipment from loading dock to installation location, level all equipment and install optional accessories.

· Vendor will coordinate, in advance, with SAVAHCS Facilities, Engineering and BioMed departments on final connections of electrical, plumbing, and ventilation.

· Appropriate operation of equipment will be confirmed by vendor after installation.

SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE

· One-year warranty included.

TRAINING:

· Training to indicate use of grossing station and use of features.
