Attachments 2 – Delta 2 Drawings and Specification 26 27 26 Wiring Devices
Charee Harris Contracting Officer NCO 21
RFI 7 - The plans say that all rooms are to have keyed on/off control. Please provide a detail for this function, switch specifications and areas for the key switches to be located.
Answer 7 - See updated E-106A and E-106B plans showing location for Keyed switches. Provide one keyed switch for each receptacle type in each patient room (Normal Power, Emergency Power, GFCI Power). Coordinate final location of switch with COR prior to installation. Basis of Design is Bryant Barrel-Key Wall Switch, #4901RKL. Contractor to submit products with electrical submittals for review.
RFI 8 - Plans say to replace corridor switches with dimmer switches. Where are they located? How many? What is the dimmer spec?
Answer 8 - See updated EL106A and EL106B Plans showing approximate locations of Dimmer switches. Contractor to verify through their own means and methods exact quantities and locations of dimmer switches. See included Wiring Devices Specification section – coordinate Dimmer switch to be compatible with LED Driver manufacturer.
RFI 9 - Sheet EL106A Note 3 says to replace patient fixtures with type L! fixtures but staff fixtures can be standard fixtures. Please clarify where L!’s can be replaced with regular standard fixtures.
Answer 9 - See Updated EL106a and EL106b lighting plans, with fixture type L1A (Added to fixture schedule on E-500) for locations that can utilize standard fixtures. L2 Fixtures are also standard fixtures.
RFI 10 - Sheet EL106A Note 7 says to replace all back of house fixtures with Led. Please clarify where these fixtures are located and how many there are. What is the replacement?
Answer 10 - See Updated EL106a and EL106b lighting plans, with fixture type L1A (Added to fixture schedule on E-500) for locations that can utilize standard fixtures. L2 Fixtures are also standard fixtures.
RFI 11- Do the unmarked closet fixtures get replaced?
Answer 11 - They will not be replaced. Existing to remain.
RFI 12 - The notes say to remove all above sink light surface fixtures and recessed shower lights. The plans do not detail how many exist. Can you provide a total of existing light fixtures to demo?
Answer 12 - There are 13 patient restrooms that are being remodeled. Remove the above-sink light fixtures and recessed shower lights in those rooms. There are approximately one above sink light and two recessed lights in each room. Contractor is responsible for verifying total quantity through their own means and methods.
RFI 13 Can you provide a wiring devices specification?
Answer 13 - See provided section 26 27 26 – Wiring Devices.
RFI 14 - Keyed notes call for replacement of dimmers in corridors. Please provide location of and quantity of dimmers in corridors B6C03, B6C04, B6C05. Please provide a manufacturer and a part # for the new dimmers.
Answer 14 - See updated EL106A and EL106B Drawings for estimated location of corridor dimmers. Contractor to verify exact quantity and location through their own means and methods. Dimmer shall be selected by contractor to be fully compatible with LED Dimming driver and be approved by the driver manufacturer. See provided section 26 27 26 – Wiring devices.
RFI 15 - Please provide a manufacturer and a part # for the new dimmers to ensure compatibility of new dimmers with the existing fixtures in corridor B6C05, please provide dimming type required (i.e. step, 0-10, or line voltage) and total wattage required per switch-leg Answer 15 - See provided Section 26 27 26 – Dimmers shall be fully compatible with LED Dimming driver and be approved by the driver manufacturer. Dimming type shall be 0-10V, down to 1%. All corridor light fixtures shall be replaced, see updated EL106A and EL106B Drawings.
RFI 16 - Please provide location to install (4) new dimmer switches in Nurses Station that control lighting in Seclusion rooms B6134A and B6193A.
Answer 16 - See updated EL106A and EL106B Drawings.
RFI 17 - It appears that the existing lighting circuiting is to be re-used. Is there currently a dimming cable (16-2c) present at each fixture for 0-10V dimming or will this be required to retrofitted?
Answer 17 - Exact condition is unknown, assume that this will need to be retrofitted. Contractor to verify dimming capability through their own means and methods.
RFI 18 - There is a keyed switch mounted outside of each room is this switch for the receptacles—Otherwise please provide a means or methods to accomplish the keyed on/off control for the new patient room outlets and a location for these keyed switches to be installed.
Answer 18 - See updated E-106A and E-106B Electrical plans for proposed Keyed switch locations for the outlets. Coordinate final location of switch with COR prior to installation.
RFI 19 - In many cases the receptacles scheduled to remain are in the same place as an existing receptacle. In this instance, can the existing receptacles remain with no alterations?
Answer 19 - All existing receptacles to remain in areas with patient access will need to be replaced to provide tamper-resistant covers to meet all new receptacles. In areas of staff-only access (Nurses Station, Work Room, Copy, Staff toilet, HAC, Medication Room, Offices, Locker Room, Soiled Utility, Red Bag Storage, Tele / Equipment rooms, Clean linen / Utility, Nourish / Kitchen, and Washer / Dryer), existing receptacles to remain do not need to be altered.
RFI 20 - Keyed notes on ED106A, B and E106A, B call for replacement of the nurse call pull string but drawings E106A, B show the device in a new location. Is the device being relocated to the new location as shown?
Answer 20 - New Nurse Call Pushbuttons will need to be provided at new locations, since the bathrooms will be undergoing significant remodeling / changes. Final location for the Nurse Call Push Buttons will need to be coordinated with the COR.
RFI 21 - It is not certain that the pull cord string can be replaced with a push button. Please provide part # and manufacturer for the new push button.
Answer 21 - Push Button shall be compatible with the Rauland Responder 5 Nurse Call system. Install a Rauland Push-button station, similar to Rauland-Borg AL-25974
RFI 22 - Is the door sensors to be furnished under the Electrical Contractor? If so, please provide the manufacturer of the existing door alarm system.
Answer 22 - Door sensors are to be furnished and installed under the electrical contractor. The existing door alarm system manufacturer is Door Control Services.
RFI 23 - Is MC/HFMC Metal Clad or Health Care Facility Metal clad cable allowed on this project.
Answer 23 - Metal Clad Cabling is not allowed on this project. Flexible conduit shall only be utilized where permitted by the NEC for tap connections to recessed lighting fixtures. Utilize existing conduit pathways and provide new conduits as specified in Section 26 05 33 “Raceway and boxes for electrical Systems”
RFI 24 - Specification 23 31 00 - 3.2 Duct Leakage Test and Repairs indicates that the duct systems are to be tested for Leakage by SMACNA Standards, and if any are found that they are to be repaired. All the duct work and apparatus's in this system are existing and are to stay in place. To satisfy the specification, the duct would need to be disconnected at the diffusers, and at the air handlers and capped so the required SMACNA test could be performed. It may require that the duct is broken up into smaller test sections due to tester constraints. That would require more disconnecting and capping of the existing duct above the existing ceiling. Please clarify if the listed specification is the intent for this project.
Answer 24 - Contractor shall only be responsible for duct leak testing in the areas affected by the scope of work. This includes new-to-existing connections where new diffusers and security grille are being provided. End-to-end leak testing for the entire HVAC system is not required by the Scope of Work.
RFI 25 - RFI #4 states that we are to provide new Responder 5 nurse call push buttons. These buttons will not work with that current system. Biomed has recently signed a contract to replace the system. Are we to delete that portion from this bid?
Answer 25 - The contractor is to delete the nurse call equipment and installation from their bid; however, they are responsible for providing the new conduit and rough-in box for the new nurse call. This was also noted in the original solicitation under the offeror instructions section.
