DESCRIPTION: INSTALL VARIOUS TYPE SENSORS

LOCATION: JESSE BROWN VA MEDICAL CENTER

The following questions and response represent all questions submitted to the Contract Specialist regarding Solicitation Number 36C25219B0021 by the 19 February 2019, 5:00 PM, CST deadline.

Q1. The site visit on 2.20.19 does not have a time associated with it.

A1. The site visit time is 11:00 AM.

Q2. Solicitation section 13a indicates to submit the bid at the place specified in Item 8, which have a GLAC Milwaukee address. Please confirm the bid submission location at your earliest opportunity whether it is at North Chicago or Milwaukee location.

A2. The bid submission address is Department of Veterans Affairs, Great Lakes Acquisition Center, 3001 Green Bay Road, Building 1, Room 329, North Chicago, Illinois 60064-3048.

Q3. Please provide an ICRA per room classification.

A3. All the rooms on the list are Class III – High Risk Area.

Q4. Please provide the ceiling and wall types per room classification.

A4. This information is not available per room; however, most of the rooms have drop ceilings and the walls are either plaster or dry wall.

Q5. Please provide paint / wallcovering specs per rooms A5. This information is not available per room; however, most of the rooms are painted and the colors and finishes are repeatable room to room.

Q6. Is all work to be performed off hours? Can work that is being performed in mechanical spaces / non-patient areas able to be performed during normal hours?

A6. Work in non-patient areas can be performed during normal business hours provided that a disturbance to patients is not created. Additionally, any rooms that are not in use on a given day may be made available if no disturbance to patient care is created.

Q7. Can programming be performed during normal hours?

A7. Yes, if access to the room is not needed. See the answer to question 6. If access to any room is permitted, then programming will also be allowed at that time, provided no patient will be disturbed.

Q8. For building 1 B - Rooms 5526, 5527, 5528, 5529, 5530, 5555 there is no information on the existing individual room temperature sensors. Are we to assume there are no devices currently installed in these rooms?

A8. Yes.

Q9. Please specify how we are to connect the sensors in the areas controlled by Auto-Matrix.

A9. There are plans to upgrade the Auto-Matrix system to a BACnet system. If that system is in place when rooms on this project is executed, then the Contractor will install and program the devices just like the rooms on the Johnson Control System. If the Auto-Matrix controlled rooms have not been upgraded, then the Contractor will proceed as far as possible and just install the BACnet compatible devices without any programming.

Q10. Please clarify if we need fire rated access panels.

A10. If any construction is done on a fire rated wall, the Contractor must maintain the existing integrity of that wall and fire rated access panels would be required. The same process applies to the ceiling. If any panels are installed on a fire rated wall, the existing fire rating must be maintained.
