Item # Section Reference Question Answers
1 Attachment A Attachment A states, “Any in-building coverage concerns will be addressed with the current DAS system contract.” Can the government provide details about the current DAS system design?
The DAS contract is still being processed. Any in building coverage will be address with the DAS contract. Bay Pines will provide an Motorola APX style mobile radio that is capable of transmitting all required radio frequencies.
This does not need to be address with this contract.
2 Attachment A Is a 2nd RF site at Lee County to be included in this effort? Lee County already has a Motorola system in place utilizing UHF band and a GTR8000 repeater. This system needs to be either upgraded/replaced to be capable with Bay Pines’ new system.
3 Attachment A How many talkgroups at each RF site; Bay Pines and Lee County? The VA currently does not have a channel plan in place.
4 Attachment A Should we assume console will be proposed to support interoperability and GPS mapping solutions?
Yes
5 Attachment A States, “System must have built in encryption to keep communications secure from unauthorized outside sources. (Must be compatible with encryption set by Pinellas County’s system).”
confirm the following solution - interop requires APX6500 donor radio programmed with Pinellas County interop channel; connects to Avtec Outpost Radio Gateway Unit; ethernet connection from APX6500 to outpost allows for PTT, emerg etc; APX6500 receives AES encryption and sends encrypted audio to Avtec VP Gateway that can be either collocated on Avtec Scout Console or on a separate server.
That sounds like a viable solution.
“Donor” radio will need to be purchased within this project and sent to the county for programming.
Pinellas will charge a reoccurring fee for loaner radio.
6 Attachment A Should we assume qty (1) console required? 2 stationary and 1 mobile console is preferred
7 General Question Can frequencies be provided? Frequencies for Bay Pines are attached to this email.
Lee County is using 407.8375 & 416.8375
8 General Question How many feet of indoor and outdoor transmission coax? More information is needed to be able to answer this question.
Please elaborate.
9 Attachment A Attachment A States, “New Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) tier-three trunked system configured..” MOTOTRBO radios are FCC certified, not NTIA certified. Typically, waivers are required to utilize NTIA frequencies in MOTOTRBO radios for DMR Tier 3 trunking systems. Has or will VA Pines receive waivers to utilize NTIA frequencies for this Tier 3 solution?
VA Bay Pines is a federal entity, therefore required to use Federal Spectrum NTIA frequencies. Wavier(s) are not required at this time.
