1. The Statement of Works lists that the doors in building 20 are to be removed before the new doors are installed. No other building lists removal of the existing doors. Are we to price the removal of all doors in the specified buildings, or only the ones in Building 20?
ANSWER: correct, the other area’s do not have current doors.
2. What are the door dimensions needed for the two doors in Building 20? Do both doors have individual transoms? If each door has an individual transom, what are the total dimensions including transom?
ANSWER: The verification of the dimensions is the responsibility of the offeror.
3. What are the finish requirements (clear anodized?) of the doors in Bldg. 20?
ANSWER: Bronze
4. Building 20 has an exterior and interior door request, which would make the project include 5 custom doors. The Statement of Work states that we must provide labor and materials to install 4 custom doors. Please clarify.
ANSWER: That would make five, we were counting building 20 as one opening.
5. The period of performance is August 10 – August 17 of 2019. Bids are due on August 2nd, 2019, which only gives 8 full days for custom doors to be ordered, processed and created before installation should begin. This timeframe will not allow for ordering, shipping and installation of these doors. Can the period of performance be extended?
ANSWER: yes, time can be extended
6. The Statement of Work states that all work is to be done during normal business hours, but at the site visit it was mentioned that work would be after hours. Please clarify.
ANSWER: Cath Lab and Hemo would have to be done after hours
7. The Statement of Work indicates Four (4) Custom Doors for B100, B106 & B20 at the WJB Dorn VA Medical Center. At the site visit it was noted that there will be no work in Building 106. Will a revised statement of work be forthcoming outlining the correct door location? Also, based on the site visit, it appears there are 5 doors to be installed, 2 in Bldg. 20 and 3 in Bldg. 100. Please clarify and provide a revised scope and bid cost schedule.
ANSWER: We moved the 106 door to another area in 100 that was noted in the site visit
8. Can you provide information about what may be in the walls around the door opening, particularly near the Cath Lab, so that we can determine if anything will have to be relocated or protected, such as med gas. Provide an as-built drawing if possible.
ANSWER: The only item to be relocated is a fire extinguisher box in the cath lab. Everything else is clear.
9. The wording in the ITB is for the “contractor to provide labor and material to install” …. automatic sliding doors. Bids from the competing general contractors are due by August 1st. Work is to take place between August 10 – August 17, 2019. Custom automatic sliding doors can’t be produced that fast without specific submittals and approvals. Even then, 3 weeks is not sufficient time.
ANSWER: Extra time will be given. The period of performance shall be 90 days after receipt of award.
10. Is this an RFQ for the labor and necessary material to install the listed automatic doors?
ANSWER: This RFQ is for the labor, material, and installation of the doors.
11. By the wording of the bid invitation and the scope of work this is an installation project at buildings #100 and #106, as well as a storefront removal and automatic door install project at building #20. Are the doors already purchased? Can you clarify this?
ANSWER: No, the potential awardee will need to purchase the doors to be installed
