Vendor Questions and Answers Fire Alarm Testing 36C24719Q0126

1. The pricing sheet displays 5 year internal inspection on each year rather than just on the option year it belongs for 5 years. The same can be said with the fire damper inspection required every 6 years in a hospital setting yet it is listed in the base and all option years as well?

This contract should be a base year, with four optional years (for a total of 5 years). There is a mandatory requirement that we have an Annual Inspection in January and a Semi-Annual in July, each year.

The dampers should be tested once, every 6 years. The dampers were last tested in 2013, so they will be due in 2019. There are a total of 149 fire dampers.

The Stand-Pipe Test is on a 5 year increment. It was last tested in 2016, so will be due again in 2021.

1. No mentions of repairs are identified in the solicitation for discrepancies found within the inspections. Is this intentional? Does the VA plan on paying for repair in a separate contract or Task order??

The company contractually responsible for testing the fire alarm system cannot also perform repairs to deficiencies identified during testing (this would be a conflict of interest). Our engineering office is responsible for submitting a contact for repairs to the fire alarm system, which is separate from the testing contract.
