Project: 526-23-302 – Condenser Water Pump Replacement RFIs COR: John Adeyeye

1. Will concrete repair and painting be part of the contract?

Answer: Yes, painting and concrete repair of the whole pad will be part of the contract. No major construction repair is needed, the repair being requested is specific to the small cracks and repainting the pad after repairing the cracks.

2. Speaking with the boiler plant staff, the pump VFD sequence may need to be adjusted to operate the pumps on a staging/ lead-lag algorithm rather than a overall speed algorithm to prevent the seal wearing issues the VA has been experiencing. Will VFD check-out and parameter adjustment be part of this contract?

Answer: Yes, the VFD check-out and parameter verification will be part of this contract. Checking the functionality with the BMS is also included.

3. The existing motors do not have AEGIS grounding rings. Adding these rings will prevent noise and premature motor bearing failures. Will these be part of the new motor specifications? The costing difference is approximately an additional 10% on the cost of the motor compared to without the devices.

Answer: Yes, AEGIS Grounding rings will help the motor’s longevity and prevent a future failure.
