CONTRACT ITEM DESCRIPTION: Emergency Dewatering Hose Assembly, 4” I.D. X 25' Long Known Compliant Hose:
Kuriyama of America, Tigerflex®, Tiger Suction™, G™ Series, G400 Heavy Duty PVC Suction Hose Or-Equal Purchase Specification:
Hose, Nonmetallic, PVC tube with rigid PVC helix reinforcement: Coupled and Fully Assembled.
Application for Intended Use: Will be installed shipboard use in Temporary Emergency Dewatering Services and may be stored in the weather in a marine environment.
1. Size: 4” I.D. by 25’ long.
2. Nominal O.D: 4.57”
3. Vacuum: Full @ 68°F.
4. Working Pressure: 50 PSI minimum at 75ºF, 60 PSI maximum @ 68°F
5. Burst Pressure: 180 PSI minimum.
6. Rated bend radius: 15 inches or less.
7. Rated Continuous Temperature: -4ºF to 150ºF
8. Weight of hose: n/a
Construction:
9. Hose shall have a wall construction which allows the use of crimped or swaged couplings with interlocking ferrules. Smooth outer cover.
10. Reinforcement: PVC tube with a rigid PVC helix.
11. Material: The hose shall be formulated to provide resistance to UV and weathering adequate to prevent failure due to these causes for a minimum of 10 years when installed and stored as described in this specification. High ozone resistance.
12. Color: “Safety” Orange.
13. Hose end assembly shall be accomplished in accordance with established National Association for Hose Accessories Distribution (NAHAD) certification standards.
14. Each hose assembly shall have the following components installed at each end:
A. 1st Hose End; virgin Brass, alloy UNS C92200, 4”, 150 PSI, Cam & Groove Adapter by Hose Shank. Hose fittings shall also meet the requirements of Commercial Item Description (CID) A-A-59326. PT Coupling Co., Part # 40E, Item # 1200540.
B. 2nd Hose End; virgin Brass, alloy UNS C92200, 4”, 150 PSI, Cam & Groove Coupler by Hose Shank, with two locking cam arms. The locking cam arms, pins, and pull rings shall be constructed of Stainless Steel. The fitting shall have a circumferential groove to accommodate the lip of a crimped ferrule. The fitting shall also meet the requirements of Commercial Item Description (CID) A-A-59326. PT Coupling Co., Part # 40CSLII, Item # 1290340L2.
C. End Fitting Crimp Sleeves: Each end fitting shall be coupled to the hose via a 304 Stainless Steel Crimped Sleeve, sized to match the hose O.D. and end fitting. Crimp Sleeves shall be UNS S30400 Stainless Steel. PT Coupling Co., Part # xxxxCSSS, Item # 543xxxxx or equal.
15. Branding / Marking: Hose shall be continuously ink-branded, stencil painted, Mylar or stripe branded /marked in 1/4” lettering (minimum), which shall be in a contrasting color to the orange outer material of the hose.
16. The lettering shall state as a minimum:
A. Standard Hose Brand/Line/Model number, working pressure, and date of manufacture
B. S/99 50 PSI EMERGENCY DEWATERING
17. Price quotes for market survey request will not be accepted without the hose, fitting, and ferrule manufacturer cut sheets or product description sheets attached, which shall include as a minimum the technical characteristic of the components and the manufacturer’s address, telephone/fax number and manufacturer point of contact. The market survey price quote must reference the manufacturer’s part numbers for the item quoted.
Each quoting vendor, if requested, must submit a five-foot long hose assembly at vendor expense for destructive testing analysis.
18. All “Or-Equal” offers must be approved by PSNS & IMF Code 270TS prior to purchase.
Hose Test & Assembly Certification:
A. Hydrostatically strength test each assembly with commercial clean, fresh water as a test medium, at 75 (+10, -0) PSIG for 5 minutes with an acceptance criteria of minor drips of water is acceptable not to exceed 1.0 ounces in 5 minutes. Each assembly shall be assigned a unique serial number by the vendor assembling the hose carcass and end fittings. The serial number shall be permanently stamped or etch marked on the hose ferrule of each hose end. Hose manufacturer shall certify that hose assemblies are free of deformation, layer separation, excessive twisting or kinking; that end fittings are not damaged or faulty, and that the end fittings and ferrules are properly positioned on the hose ends. Also that the hose does not have hairline cracks, breaks, abrasions, soft spots, bulges, or other defects in the outer cover. Written certification of satisfactory hose end assembly in accordance with NAHAD standards, satisfactory hydrostatic testing shall be provided with each shipped hose. Written certifications shall include the witness signature of the tester, test date, test pressure and duration, and shall include the unique hose serial numbers.
