About this file
This document contains detailed technical specifications for a wavemeter procurement by NIST's Ion Storage Group, issued under RFQ NB688000-25-00733. The required wavemeter must measure wavelengths between 390-1140 nm with absolute accuracy of +/-10 MHz or better and frequency resolution under 1 MHz. It must operate with CW laser light input power of 60 μW or less.
Key requirements include an automated fiber optic switch system for measuring up to 8 independent lasers, measurement rates up to 1000 Hz, and electronics/software for simultaneously locking 8 lasers using analog voltage outputs (16-bit+ resolution, ±10V range). The system must accept external calibration, include fiber input coupling, provide comprehensive control software with API/drivers, and be capable of single-mode operation across the full wavelength range. Rack mounting is not required.

Text version
Detailed specifications for Ion Storage Group wavemeter requisition.
The wavemeter must meet ALL of the following specifications in order to meet our need:
1. Must be suitable for measuring wavelengths in the range between 390 nm and 1140 nm, with an absolute accuracy at or below +/-10 MHz throughout this wavelength range when calibrated with a known reference laser of suitable wavelength.
2. Must have frequency resolution of less than 1 MHz.
3. Must be able to operate with input power for continuous wave (CW) laser light of 60 uW or less for 1 s exposure across the wavelength range listed.
4. Must accept an external calibration laser for absolute frequency calibration.
5. Must have a fiber input for coupling in the light to be measured.
6. Must have an automated fiber optic switch to enable measurement of the wavelength of at least 8 independent lasers, each delivered in its own single mode fiber, using automated switching between input fibers using an appropriate fiber-optic switch (switch and all required hardware/software must be included).
7. Fiber switch must be capable of transmitting light across the entire wavelength range 390 nm to 1140 nm in a single spatial mode (single mode fiber switch).
8. Fiber switch must operate with sufficient speed to enable locking of up to 8 lasers.
9. The wavemeter must support measurement rates of up to 1000 Hz.
10. Must include electronics and software for locking the frequency of up to 8 lasers simultaneously to the wavemeter reading to stabilize the laser frequencies, using analog voltage outputs with 16-bit or higher resolution and a +/- 10V output range.
11. Must include software for operation of the wavemeter.
12. Must include a software API/software drivers to enable third-party software to control the wavemeter and locking electronics and read out the measured wavelengths.
13. Rack mounting is NOT required.
