STATEMENT OF WORK
MMAC Irrigation System
Work Request: 2021-008412
I. PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Provide the complete design and construction services required to install an irrigation system on the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center (MMAC) campus. Upon completion, deliver a new, fully functional, irrigation system that meets all of the specified design and installation criteria described herein.
II. PROJECT REQUIREMENTS:
A. Project includes ALL architectural/engineering and construction services necessary to provide a complete, water efficient, fully functional and operational irrigation system for areas as described on the attached MMAC map.
B. A locally installed controller in a durable, weatherproof enclosure will control the irrigation system for each area noted. The control system used will be powered from the nearest available power source and will be installed in a code-compliant manner suitable for outdoor installation. The installed irrigation system enclosures are to be below grade (concealed from view), protected from regular pedestrian traffic and routine grounds maintenance (mowing) activities.
C. The control system will use weather-based systems to avoid unnecessary irrigation.
D. Refer to three (3) plans showing each area proposed to be irrigated. These drawings are to scale printed on 22 x 34 paper. Contractor to verify scale is correct.
a. Overall Irrigation Plan
b. Irrigation Plans - Areas 1
c. Irrigation Plans – Areas A + B + C
E. Refer to the four (4) sketches showing utilities around each site. NOTE: These sketches are not-to-scale (NTS) and are to be printed on 8-1-2 x 11 paper for reference only.
1. 1 - West Entrance Marquee
A. A - ANF1 (5) + ATB (3) + RTF (25)
B. B - REG (29)
C. C - SOUTH ENTRANCE MARQUEE
F. The irrigation system will serve the following areas. Refer to MMAC site map for location of proposed irrigation areas. Area boundaries to be verified and the SF of the irrigated area by the contractor.
G. GENERAL NOTES: The following notes apply to all areas to be irrigated:
a. New irrigation system controller will be RainBird Model ESP-LX Modular to be compatible with system and parts utilized at MMAC. Provide a new stand-alone controller utilizing a blue-tooth wireless connection. NOTE: 2-wire systems controllers will not be allowed.
b. A graphic depiction of the utilities located in the area near the areas to be irrigated.
Site visit shall verify boundaries of irrigated areas defined in the proposal. Contractor to field verify areas to be irrigated prior to submitting a proposal.
c. Contractor will notify OCAT in writing before any excavation.
d. Contractor will be responsible to test and program final irrigation system with MMAC landscape personnel present.
H. Notes listed in this paragraph are site specific for areas annotated below.
IRRIGATION AREA LOCATIONS - METERED AREA:
1 – West Entrance Marquee
a. The small circular area around the marquee at the west entrance to the MMAC annotated as on the attached map. Connection to existing water line is located in the adjacent island located in the middle median of Mike Monroney Blvd. requires an irrigation meter.
b. 1 – West Entrance Marquee will be served from utility grade water meters connected to existing OKC underground water distribution system and an above-ground backflow preventer installed per OKC standards along with isolation valves, irrigation control components, etc. required for future sprinkler system service.
c. Locate above ground backflow equipment in an architectural enclosure south of marquee to shield view from main gate traffic similar to the installation at ARB.
d. Connect required irrigation system power to existing marquee sign to provide 120/1/60 power for the irrigation system controller operation.
e. Refer to drawing 1 – West Entrance Marquee Utilities NTS for graphic depiction of the underground utilities located in the area to be irrigated. Contractor to field verify all utilities prior to installation.
IRRIGATION AREAS LOCATIONS - FED FROM EXISTING MMAC WATER LINES:
SITE SPECIFIC NOTES:
a. Irrigation systems areas annotated below as A, B & C are supplied water from building water connections. Coordinate location of main incoming building water supply line. Provide isolation valve on main building water supply to isolate irrigation system. This valved connection will allow future connection of the irrigation system during a future campus-wide water meter installation project.
b. See 8-1/2 x 11 sketches of the underground utilities in the area.
A. A - ANF1 (5) + ATB (3) + RTF (25):
Refer to area designated as A for graphic depiction of the area to be irrigated. Irrigation water source will be from ANF1. Irrigation areas to be sprinkled to include the area east and west of ANF1, front lawn area of ANF1 and along street over to stairs at ATB. Water source for the berm planter area along the west side of RTF along, the strip of grass along road west of RTF along the street and under the trees to the south entrance.
B. B - REG (29):
Refer to area designated as B for graphic depiction of the area to be irrigated. Irrigation water source will be from NW corner of REG. Area to include the berm planter area along the north side and the area along the road to the east. Irrigation water source for the areas south and east of REG will be from the building 30 located to the south of REG. Areas include the berm planter area south of REG and east side over the entry stairs including strip along the road.
C. C – SOUTH ENTRANCE MARQUEE:
Refer to area designated as C for graphic depiction of the area to be irrigated. Irrigation water source will be connect to existing water line located just east of the marquee.
