Question and Answer A002

Solicitation Number 20215281017 Replace Headgate Hoist Control Panel 1&2 Components and Wiring

1. Q) What is the maximum capacity of the two (one on each hoist) for the Dillon Dynaswitch?

A) ANS- Only the Micro Dillon Dynaswitch and wiring shall be replace as mark on the pictures the mechanical assembly shall remain.

2. Q) What runs are in the three conduits that were poured into the concrete structure and come up under the hoist skid and come up into the control panel? We understand that two of them contain the two different 480 VAC power feeds, but we don't know what is in the third.

A) ANS- The third conduit is for a control cable that runs to a JBox set in concrete within the 25-foot radius that needs to be replace.

3. Q) Depending on the answer to question 2, if the wiring exceeds the 25-foot radius of the control panel is it included in this scope of work?

A) ANS- NA cable is within 25-feet.

4. Q) Is there an electrical drawing available that will show power isolation points for each control panel and hoist skid?

A) ANS- The power to the control panels can turn off at the Dam switchgear room.

5. Q) Is the maximum time allowed for the tagout, backplane replacement, wire installation, and existing cabinet replacement the working days of one week starting on Monday and completing on Friday? Is the required training to be conducted on the Monday following the cutover, and is it to be after the cutover of the first panel only or for both panels?

A) ANS- Extra days will be allowed if something unforeseeable accrues per Panel and training will be part of each headgate and control panel operational testing.

6. Q) Is the ground wire currently installed on the existing control cabinets and hoist skid equipment not to be included in this scope of work?

A) ANS-The two ground wires need to be reconnected to existing place.

7. Q) The two control cabinets were NEMA 4 enclosures, but the doors were cut for the installation of the pushbutton stations, and the new pushbutton stations may be smaller causing a gap to exist. Is it acceptable to use an aluminum metal plate with a bead of silicon to cover and seal the holes of the existing push button stations prior to mounting the new push button stations?

A) ANS-If plate is needed it shall be metal with gasketed and of the same size use for the cabinet.

8. Q) The current minimum setting on the Dillon replacement that they make today to replace the ones currently installed is 1,000 pounds vs the 800-pound operational setting on the current units. Is it acceptable to have a 1000-pound setting rather than the 800 pounds currently stamped on the units?

A) ANS- The Micro Dillon Dynaswitchs are the ones that get replaced only and the way they are attach to the mechanical assembly will not be bearing any load.

9. Q) It appears that the hoist skid was built and then set in place. We plant to use pull the wire out of the existing conduit and pull the new wire in at the same time. Should the wire not pull out or in properly and new conduit needs to be installed for the new wiring, is it permissible to install the new conduit on the top of the skid rather than back underneath the skid approximated 35 feet AFF of the level below?

A) ANS- If it’s not feasible for a reasonable reason to use the same conduit and install a new one underneath only then it will be permissible to be install on top of skid. Rigid conduit shall be installed if needed.
