Septic Pumping – PIRO

Questions and Answers listed below:

Question # Question Answer/Response

1. Who is the current incumbent?

Award amount/contract number?

This service was previously conducted under Purchase Order 140P6420P0017 by Tri-County Septic & Sons. Total Award amount for the Base Plus Four (4) Option Years was $165,276.46.

2. How frequently does the Park expect to need service?

(monthly, seasonal peaks, etc.)

Service is anywhere from May 1st through October 30th on an on-call basis as needed by the park. It is dependent on the number of visitors at each location, so frequency of visits is difficult to determine. There may be emergency needs during the winter, but this would be only due to a true emergency.

3. Will you provide a projected schedule, or is this truly "as-needed" only?

This is on an “as-needed” basis.

4. Are the estimated gallons in the SOW annual totals or per call/pumping?

Estimated gallons are on an annual basis.

5. Is there a minimum or maximum number of service calls to expect each year?

No, this is on an “as-needed” basis as determined by the park.

6. If an emergency is triggered (24-hour response), will the Park provide clear guidance on access and any special procedures?

Yes, the call will be placed by park personal to the vendor and clear guidance on what the emergency is will be provided.

7. Will one key be provided for all sites?

The COR will work with the contractor on the number of keys needed. All sites are keyed the same.

8. Are there any restricted access windows (seasonal closures, gates locked on certain days, etc.)?

Gates are located at Sullivan’s Cabin, Au Sable Light Station, 12 Mile Campground, Lower Hurricane and Upper Hurricane.

The key provided to the contractor will allow access to these areas.

9. Are there any locations that require off-road access or 4x4 vehicle capability?

No all roads are either paved or gravel and only require two-wheel drive. Au Sable Road is a one lane road and may require a smaller truck to access the area.

10. Are any sites seasonally closed or inaccessible due to snow/road conditions?

Only areas with access in the winter are Sand Point Headquarters, Sand Point Beach Parking, Munising Maintenance Shop, Leaning Shelter, Grand Sable Visitor Center, Grand Marais Quarters #57, Ranger Station and Dorm HS-18, Ranger Residence HS-19. These would only require pumping if there was an emergency. The park will have these pumped if needed before winter and typically in the month of October.

11. Are services expected year-round, or only during peak visitor seasons?

Service is expected year-round if an emergency exists for the locations listed in line 10. Normal pumping will occur between May 1st and October 30th.

12. Are there any standardized checklists or logs required after pumping service is completed?

Invoice with locations and number of gallons removed from each location.
