The SOW states that a 7 ton mobile crane will be provided. Major components are sub-assembled on the ground before erecting, and MTI guidelines recommend a 15 ton capacity crane to erect new equipment.

a. Can NPS provide a load chart for the crane being provided?

b. Can an alternate crane be transported to the island on the NPS LCM?

c. Can NPS provide a larger crane?

d. Should contractor propose a larger rental crane as a separate/optional line item?

Access to the top sections of the boat hoist requires a manlift.

a. Can a service truck with personnel bucket be transported on LCM at no cost to contractor?

b. Alternately, will a manlift be provided on site by the NPS?

c. One can be provided by MTI if not provided by NPS and will need transport to the island.

The solicitation suggests that the major sub-assemblies are to be crated, and that they will be skidded onto the NPS LCM. Please be aware that the largest sub-assembly weighs in excess of 6,000 lbs. and is approximately 20’ long. Sub-assemblies are normally shipped stacked and open on a single flat-bed semi-trailer. Crating large sub-assemblies will be costly and will require an additional semi-trailer for delivery.

A. There is a crane on the R3 at the Houghton port that can be used. There is no crane on the LCM
