Vendor Questions.
Split Rails 140P5323Q0006
Vendor Question #1:
1. 242 rough cut rails 2 inches by 4 inches and 8 feet in length? Is this an error?
Park response #1:
1. We are technically replacing 3 sections of fence in this project all of which are different construction. The 2" X 4" X 8' rough cut rails we requested will be the top and bottom rails we attach the palings to. They are not intended for use with the split rail fencing system.
If they can provide us with rough cut 2" X 4" X 7', we can work with it, as long as the length is the same with all rails.
Vendor Question #2:
2. Do you have a preference for the length of this item: “121 round fence posts with an average diameter 4.5 inches to 6 inches”
“Must be untreated timbers” Are you accepting only BLACK LOCUST for this item, or are you accepting any wood log species that is not treated?
Park Response Question #2.
6-foot-long fence posts with an avg. diameter of 4.5 to 6 inches.
They are not specified to be black locust; however, they are specified to be a singular species for each product that is both native to BISO and known for natural resistance against insects and weathering. Softer wood species such as poplar would not be acceptable, they are not known to have these natural properties quite the opposite. Locust and Red Cedar are prime examples but not specified as required. We would not accept "any wood log species that is not treated".
Vendor question #3:
3. Material is specified to be “Kiln Dried”.
Is that correct?
Park Response #3:
3. All material shall undergo a kiln drying or similar process to ensure there is no invasive species held within the wood
