Q1: What is the approximate height of the tower?
A1: The height of the water tower is 100 feet.
Q2: It does not look like there is a Bid Bond that needs to accompany the Bid. Would you please confirm that that is correct?
A2: You are correct. A bid bond is not required for quotes provided in response to NPS solicitation 140P1521Q0029.
Q3: Can you please provide the height for the tower and a stand still front photo.
A3: The height of the water tower is 100 feet.
Q4: Are water and electricity available for the contractor. Are there restrooms available?
A4: Regarding water, electricity, and restrooms, please refer to “Use of Government Facilities” on page 26 of the solicitation.
Q5: There is not a spec for the paint system, only mention that it should meet the weathering requirements of AWWA OCS-4 and weathering requirements of AAMA 2604. OCS-4 just calls for a 3 coat system - zinc rich primer, aliphatic urethane intermediate coat, & flourourethane finish coat according to the AWWA book.
The paint manufacturer says that since there Is not a requirement to blast the exterior and only going with a SSPC-SP2 surface prep, the above-mentioned system isn’t the best method. It’s doable, but there are options that fit the stated surface prep better. We are assuming that there is no requirement to blast it because the likelihood there is lead and this allows doing the repainting without the possible requirement of containment. He suggested instead doing an epoxy primer like Macropoxy 920, intermediate coat of Macropoxy 646, and a polyurethane finish of Acrolon Ultra. This doesn’t fit the AWWA OCS-4 from my understanding as it doesn’t include the zinc and is a polyurethane vs. a flourourethane finish. Could you get us some guidance if you would be acceptable to this if we could furnish a letter from our rep with our bid?
A5: The paint system described is acceptable.
Q6: It does not seem to be mentioned as to the size or any dimensions for the tank.
Will need to find out the capacity and height to LWL so we can get an accurate surface area.
A6: The tank size is 100 feet tall and holds 50,000 gallons.
