Solicitation Number 140L3923Q0095 Mud Spring Fence & Cattle Guards Questions & Answers

Q1) The SOW says, " The BLM will provide post and rail fence material necessary to install 2,691’ of fence only." I understand this to mean the posts, rails, and nipples as shown on page 2 of the Work Data Sheet. Is this correct?

A1) Yes, BLM will also provide the nipples..

Q2) Page 2 of the Work Data Sheet shows posts and rails with holes. Are these existing pre-drilled holes, or must they be drilled by the contractor?

A2) The posts have existing predrilled holes, the rails do not need any holes drilled in them to be assembled, but they are hollow to allow the insertion of the nipple.

Q3) Page 2 of the Work Data Sheet shows posts and rails with holes. The nipple has no holes. Are the rail holes threaded to allow for the installation of two bolts to tighten the nipple into place. If not, how are the rails secured to the nipples? Does the contractor drill holes through the nipple and install a bolt, washers, and locking nut?

A3) No they are not threaded, there is a self tapping TEX screw that the BLM will provide which secures the rails to the nipple. The contractor does not have to drill a hole but does have to insert the self tapping screw which will require a drill.

Q4) Is the government providing the caps to be welded on top of the posts as shown on page 2 of the Work Data Sheet?

A4) The caps are already assembled to the posts, that is not something the contractor will need to do.
