Amendment No 0003
Bear River MBR Repair Water Control Structure at Unit 2D Engineering Project ID 16-036
Amendment Number 0003
Three (3) Contractor Questions and Answers:
Question #1: Where the old stop logs walls are removed there are no notes for burning back the rebar that is exposed from the concrete cutting. Is it the intent to leave the ends of the cut bars from the old walls exposed? If the exposed bars are to be patched, how far back should the metal be removed, and is a grout cover acceptable?
Answer #1: For all exposed rebar, the Contractor shall drill back the exposed rebar one inch and fill the hole with an epoxy sealant.
Question #2: The drawings call for patching of the stop log slots in the existing abutment walls to the structure, and requires wire brush and cleaning only. Is there any other requirement for floating the wall with grout to smooth out other irregularities in the old concrete wall?
Answer #2: For the side abutment walls the stoplog slots shall be treated and filled per Section A as shown on page 6 of the drawings.
Question #3: For clarity, are all 8 of the existing stop logs walls to be removed, included 2 of the walls that abut the support walls of the bridge structure?
Answer #3: Per the drawings, the Contractor shall remove eight existing stop log walls. Contractor shall sawcut and remove wall at bridge support as shown on Section A on page 4 of the drawings.
