Amendment No1

Bear River MBR Repair Water Control Structure at Unit 2D Engineering Project ID 16-036

Amendment Number 1

Eleven (11) Contractor Questions and Answers:

Question #1: Can you please advise the flow rate of the Bear River (average) during the period of performance?

Answer #1: Prior to construction, the site will be drained to allow for dry conditions for construction activities. The typical seasonal flows through the refuge vary from none to several thousand cubic feet per second, with no set average flow pattern.

Question #2: In regards to Buy American, is it acceptable to the government to solicit proposals from Instream (a Canadian firm) for the supply of the new overshot gates?

Answer #2: Instream has been approved as a sole source for overshot gates for this location.

Question #3: The Statement of Work incorporated “demolition of existing concrete stoplog support walls” in the scope. Is the removal and disposal of any existing 2 inch x 8 inch wooden stoplogs to be included?

Answer #3: The stoplogs are included in the demolition. The Contractor shall remove the stoplogs and place at a location on the refuge as designated by the refuge staff.

Question #4: Are the Handrails to be shop painted or can they be painted in the field?

Answer #4: The Contractor shall shop finish the handrails.

Question #5: The Handrail detail on page 9 of 10 indicates “typ. of 4”. We believe only three (3) are required.

Please verify.

Answer #5: There are three (3) center sections and two (2) end sections.

Question #6: It is not noted as such but is epoxy coated reinforcing required in the new support walls?

Answer #6: Epoxy coating is not required but may be used at the Contractor’s option, however no additional cost will be allotted for epoxy coating.

Amendment No1

Question #7: Will any cofferdam type construction be required to mitigate water flow during construction?

Answer #7: The site will be drained for construction. No cofferdams will be required during construction.

Question #8: Please clarify the units and quantities reflected in the bid schedule. For Item No 2, what does the 480 sf represent?

Answer #8: Item No 2 480 sf represents the square footage of 10 inch concrete walls.

Question #9: Please clarify the units and quantities reflected in the bid schedule. For Item No 3, given the information provided please verify the 10.2 CY noted that refers to the four (4) new support walls?

Answer #9: For Item No 3, the quantity should be changed from 10.2 CY to 7.0 CY. See and use the attached revised price schedule.

Question #10: Please clarify the units and quantities reflected in the bid schedule. For Item No 5, please verify the

13.4 lf quantity and unit for the walkway and handrails?

Answer #10: For Item No 5, the quantity should be changed to 1 LS (Lump Sum). See and use the attached revised price schedule.

Question #11: Please clarify the units and quantities reflected in the bid schedule. For Item Nos 6, 7 & 8, as the units are LS, is the percent required?

Answer #11: Yes.
