Amendment 0001 to Solicitation No. 140F0121Q0015 Questions and Answers

1. A question was asked about running the lines in the attic and dropping the lines through the ceiling using a pump to remove the condensation. Yes, the line sets may be run through the attic in both buildings.

2. Concerns were expressed that the temperature range designated may not be available by some vendors. Clarification is needed regarding if the rating is per office or for the outside unit to be rated as -22 heating? It has been confirmed that the SEER and temperature rating is for the outside unit only.

3. Questions about sheetrock work after the removal of the return and supply vents. Advise if the contractor should leave the existing vent and sealing it with metal in the attic, remove the vent and cover the hole with a piece of sheet metal ceiling side, and remove the vent and patch with drywall. The refuge would like to proceed with a combination. The vents in the visitor center can be sealed with metal in the attic leaving the vent and the main office vents must be removed and patched using dry wall. Dry wall must be finished with mud, tape, texture and painted to match the existing celling. Refuge will provide paint codes. For the Option item, all vents will be sealed with sheet metal from the basement leaving vents in place.

4. It was pointed out that there was Asbestos tape on some if not all the joints in the duct work in the Biology building (option item). The tape is sealed with paint and the ducting will need to be removed and disposed of per OSHA regulations. Out of the 40 joints there are 3 joints that have a caution asbestos fibers sticker on them. (photo below)
