Questions for BERTHOLF Solicitation.

1. Work Item 11 has some conflicting info and long lead material. Our sub plans to shipcheck next week. Can we extend questions due date until end of month?

a. Question due date was extended to August 1 at 2:00pm via Amendment 0001.

2. WI 04: Do “any authorized repairs” in para 3.3.2 include the definite work of bladder renewal and relief valve test? Does the paragraph intend to handle via Change Request any component failures caused by a potential hydrostatic test failure?

a. Response: “Any authorized repairs” refers to authorized repairs to the tank if found during inspection. The hydrostatic test is to test the structural integrity of the tank, isolated from the rest of the system potable water and air systems. The paragraph does not intend to handle Change Requests caused by the hydrostatic test failure.

3. WI 10: Will the vessel require potable water while WIs 12 and 13 are being performed? Will temporary berthing be required during the performance of WI 18?

a. Response: Potable water temporary services will not be required, the ship can receive shore tie water while the tanks are open. Temporary berthing will not be required.

4. WI 12: Does the specification intend for KTR to coordinate WIs 12 and 13 as needed? Does the specification intend for KTR to perform pit/UT checks prior to removing coatings?

a. Response: The KTR must coordinate WI’s as needed. Pit/UT measurements must be taken after the coating has been removed.

5. WI 15: Does the customer require flow readings called in paras. 3.5.1 and 3.17.2 do be performed using any specific method?

a. Response: No specific method is required to perform flow readings.

6. WI 18: Will KTR be able to perform work in all 16 spaces at the same time, and for duration of POP?

a. Response: The KTR must not take down more than four berthings at one time to allow adequate berthing/workspace for displaced crew. The KTR must submit at the arrival conference a proposed schedule outlining when each space in Table 1 of Work Item 18 will be unavailable for COR review.

7. Q: Contractor request the window for questions be extended through August 1st?

a. Response: Question due date was extended to August 1 at 2:00pm via Amendment 0001.

8. Q: Why is the Davis Bacon Act attached to this solicitation, historically it has not been applicable to CG Base Pier Side Ship Repair ?

a. The Davis Bacon Act has been removed and replaced with Service Contract Act clauses and Wage Determination.

9. Q: WI-017 Can all spaces be worked together?

a. Response: All spaces in WI17 may be accomplished simultaneously. The Contractor must coordinate the accomplishment of this work item with WORK ITEM 20: Wardroom, CO Cabin and XO Office Carpet, Replace to minimize disruption to command work spaces.

10. Q: WI-018 Can all spaces be worked together?

a. Response: The KTR must not take down more than four berthings at one time to allow adequate berthing/workspace for displaced crew. The KTR must submit at the arrival conference a proposed schedule outlining when each space in Table 1 of Work Item 18 will be unavailable for COR review.

11. Q: WI-019 Subcontractor is not able to locate a company that provides 6X6 Quarry Tile called "Red Oxide" does the CG know who supplies this product?

a. Response: “Red Oxide/Oxide Red” is the color of Quarry Tiles 6x6 required (not any special/specific product name requested). SFLC-Std-Spec-6341-(2020), Appendix B3.1 Authorized Product List states that “B3.1. Authorized product list. Most major ceramic tile manufacturers provide acceptable products that meet the requirements of ANSI A137.1.” Recommended vendors are listed on the TCNA website located at https://www.tcnatile.com/resources/product-locator.html?productid=708
