Questions and Answers
Question # 1: For the requirement# 3 minimum internal workspace dimension 780mm Depth, the standard depth of our glovebox workspace is 750mm, is it acceptable to you? If not, we can custom design the depth to 780mm.
NIST Answer: The standard depth of 750mm is acceptable, however, the internal workspace Depth dimension of 780mm is strongly preferred. See Amended NIST Requirements and Amended Combined Synopsis Solicitation for update.
Question # 2: For the requirement# 7 compatible with existing MBraun glovebox, could you please inform how do you want to integrate with the gloveboxes? Do you need a T-antechamber between them, or you want to connect the main chambers? Please advise your thoughts.
NIST Answer: NIST does not plan to use a T-antechamber between them or connect the existing gloveboxes with the new one. NIST wants the ability to frequently swap pieces from and use the same consumables for our existing MBRaun gloveboxes. These components include, vacuum pumps, oxygen sensors, moisture sensors, port covers, valves, gloves, filters, solvent traps, etc. This is often necessary to trouble shoot and maintain critical operating conditions during our processes. However, NIST does plan to interface the new glovebox with an evaporator (as described in the background of the technical requirements document) and that is why the item #20 flange is needed.
Question # 3: For the requirement# 12 solvent trap, we have three kinds of solvent trap, which are internal solvent trap (1.25 kg activated carbon), regenerable external solvent trap (9kg molecular sieve) and replaceable external solvent trap (9kg activated carbon). Please inform which solvent trap are you looking for.
NIST Answer: Replaceable external solvent trap (9kg activated carbon)
Question # 4: We have noticed the required lead time is 6-8 weeks, however, our lead time is 10-12 weeks. Please advise if you could accept 10-12 weeks lead time?
NIST Answer: The longer lead time is acceptable, see Amended NIST Requirements for update.
