Section I. Request for Proposal
A. Intent and Scope for the Auburn University Internet Transport Connectivity_Nashville
The objective of this RFP is to solicit bids for a single 100 Gbps Internet transport circuit to serve Auburn University’s main campus in Auburn, Alabama. This circuit will replace one of two existing physically diverse 100 Gbps transport circuits that the University has for Internet connectivity, providing failover redundancy to the Internet. The circuit will need to be connected to commodity Internet and Internet2 services provided by Southern Light Rail / Southern Crossroads (SLR/SoX) at either one of two Nashville, Tennessee locations defined in the Requirements section below. Since the circuit will serve in a failover configuration with another preexisting circuit, the University may require that the two circuits be provided by two different vendors to achieve as much physical diversity as possible. The University will also consider ownership of the fiber optic infrastructure for the proposed circuit when making an award decision. Decisions will be made solely by Auburn University in its best interest. The University also seeks pricing on 20 Gbps and 40 Gbps Internet Service delivered to the university on a dedicated fiber circuit.
Background The Southern Crossroads (SoX) Research and Education Network is managed and operated by Georgia Tech University in Atlanta, Georgia. Auburn University, as a member of SoX, receives commodity Internet and Internet2 services from SoX along with other services. The SoX network has points of presence in both
Description
Nashville and Atlanta. For physical redundancy with geographical diversity, Auburn University requires that its primary and secondary Internet/Internet2 connections be in separate locations, one in Atlanta and one in Nashville. This RFP is for the circuit connection in Nashville.
