Coffee Pot Bridge #2 Pre-Bid Meeting on August 7, 2018

Questions & Answers:

Q1: Is it assumed that the unclassified borrow is generated onsite?

A1: Yes, according to the Special Project Specifications 208.02.

Q2: Does the creek flow year round? Will a cofferdam be required?

A2: Yes, Deep Creek is perennial. A cofferdam may be required to remove the upstream rock step depending on the amount of proposed stream disturbance.

Q3: Will the Forest Service handle permitting?

A3: This bridge project falls into an Army Corps of Engineers Nationwide Permit 3a, which is the category of maintenance and no preconstruction notification is required.

Q4: What coordinates is the survey in?

A4: The control points on the plans are in northing/easting in NAD83 Colorado State Planes, Central Zone and also longitude/latitude.

Q5: Is camping permitted onsite?

A5: Yes, camping is permitted in Deep Lake Campground with permitted approval. The facilities are available for use at the campground but the project site will still require a facility per Section H.1 Field Sanitation.

Q6: When were the geotech test holes drilled?

A6: They were drilled in 2015 or 2014.

Q7: Blasting is noted in the plans, will blasting be determined during excavation?

A7: Blasting may be required per section 208.08 Foundation Preparation.

Q8: Are there any known suppliers of the reinforcing mat?

A8: No suppliers are known at this time.

Q9: On the timber deck panels, does it make sense to mirror the right panel to optimize structure strength?

A9: The Regional Structural Engineer has been contacted on the question. A response is pending.

Q10: How are the reinforcing mats connected to the mesh vertical wall?

A10: This is explained in Special Project Specification 255.02 Mechanically-Stabilized Earth Walls

Q11: Is there a typo on the plans with the spacing between the wielded wire reinforcement?

A11: No, there does not appear to be, the plans are consistent from one page to the next.

Q12: What is the required spacing for the dowels on Sheet 10 of the plans?

A12: This is specified in the Special Project Specifications 557.19 Timber Structures.

Q13: On Optional Form 336 (3 of 4 page of the solicitation), the Period of Performance is 9/16/2018 to 10/31/2018, is this an error?

A13: No, the Period of Performance should reflect: 09/18/2018 – 11/01/2019 Construction Start Date: 08/01/2019 In-Stream Fisheries Work Window is August 1st through September 30th Maximum Road Closure on Coffee Pot Road is 45 days

The Period of Performance is expanded in order to allow adequate timespan for Pre-Work Meeting at the beginning as well as, Invoice Processing after completion of work.
