Amendment: A00003 To:

Plumas National Forest Bear Locker Install

The purpose of this amendment is to add additional clarifications and RFI answers to the SAM.gov post.

All other terms and conditions not addressed in this amendment remain unchanged.

ADDITIONAL CONTRACTOR QUESTIONS / REQUESTS FOR ADDITIONAL

INFORMATION AND GOVERNMENT RESPONSES

Q. Your attention is directed to section C.8 of the solicitation on PDF sheet 9. The Forest Service will not allow camping in US Forest Service Campgrounds. Please consider ALLOWING contractor staff to camp at campgrounds where Bear locker installation will occur.

- Please allow contractor staff to camp in campgrounds where Bear Locker installation will occur.

A. Camping on Forest Service land requires written permission from the Line Officer with authority over the specific campground and the contractor to provide their own bathroom arrangements. Utilization is not guaranteed. If the contractor would like to utilize campgrounds for staff to camp during the standard work week, please provide a request in the technical proposal. The request should include the location, the number of employees, if a RV or travel trailer will be used, and the timeframe for camping at each separate location.

Q. Is bagged concrete acceptable to use for the pole foundation, such as High Strength Quikrete? Please consider allowing bagged concrete to be acceptable as concrete for the pole foundation, requiring ready-mix concrete for the pole foundation in the remote location of the National Park will have severe cost impact.

A. Thoroughly mixed, bagged concrete is acceptable for use in the pole foundation.

Q. To clarify on the materials provided by the National Park Service, all lockers will be provided by the

NPS but poles and hardware for the lockers will only be provided per Section J, Page 38, of the Bid

Documents?

A. Confirmed all lockers will be provided by the Forest Service and are located at the "Current

Locker Location" column provided on Page 38 of the solicitation documents. Hardware will only be provided for those listed in the "Forest Service Supplied Poles/hardware column."

Q. Please provide anchor pole diameter and hardware attachment detail to Bear Locker.

A. The pole kits shall be type: ADA, Item Number FS-30-UP-KIT-PM1 from BearSaver or a similar product approved by the Government as listed on the included spreadsheet. The diameter of the poles is 3 1/2".

Q. Will there be any surface restoration (i.e., asphalt, concrete, aggregate base) required at any bear locker location?

A. No added surface material is required at the installed bear locker location. Any soil disturbed from the bear locker install shall be raked and smoothed around the site. The pole footing shall be covered with a minimum of 2" of existing natural material, as shown on page 39 of the solicitation documents.
