127EAS21Q0065 Forest Wide Building Demolition Project Response to request for information
1. The answers to some of these questions could impact all of the bidders for this project. Will the government consider a bid extension until such time these RFIs are responded to via an amendment? No, the response due date has not changed.
2. All buildings to be demolished: Please confirm that only the debris inside of all buildings to be demolished is to be disposed of as part of the scope and any debris on the exterior and in the areas around the buildings is to be left on site. Contractor to remove building and items that are part of the building, such as concrete slab, propane tanks.
3. Kaiser Digging Guard Station, Building RS2833 – Kaiser Dig Storage Shed: During the site visit, it appeared the shed to be demolished was destroyed in the Creek Fire. Please confirm if the building still exists. Building at Kaiser Diggings was not destroyed by the Creek Fire see attached picture.
4. Wishon Work Center, Building FS1904 - Wishon Storage: There is a propane run generator connected to a power pole outside the building. There is also a propane supply line for the generator running across the concrete slab next to the building to the generator. The contractor is unsure if the generator is for this shed only or if it services other areas. Are we to disconnect the electrical going into the building and leave all other utilities connected and protected in place or how would the Owner like us to handle the utilities for this building? The building is close to an electrical pole and other utilities but there are no utilities connected to this building. Contractor to remove the building.
5. Trimmer Work Center, Building FS2512 – Gas/Oil Shed: The scope requires the removal of three
(3) bollards. Can the contractor cut the steel bollards flush with the top of the concrete and fill any voids if needed? Yes steel can be cut flushed to the concrete slab.
6. Trimmer Work Center, Building FS2636 – Storage: The Storage building has a concrete foundation and apron. During the site visit, the contractor observed evidence of previously demolished buildings. The previously demolished building’s concrete foundations have been abandoned in place. Can contractor abandon the storage building foundation and apron in place? Concrete slab is part of the demolition project and shall be removed.
7. Big Creek Fire Station, Building FS2616 – Paint Shed: During the site visit, it was discovered that the building has been newly remodeled and appears to be in excellent condition on the exterior.
Is it still the intent of the Owner to demolish the building? See attached document for buildings to be demolished at Big Creek. All buildings and buildings related items to be demolished.
8. Big Creek Fire Station, Building FS2616 – Paint Shed: If the Paint Shed is to be demolished please note, this building has a six foot high open basement storage area. Will the demolition require the removal of the perimeter concrete stem walls and footings? If so, will the void be required to be backfilled with imported soil or can the side of the hill be recontoured similar to the existing slope? See answer for question #7
