Geotechnical Evaluation Report available upon request.

Planned HL-93 aluminum (Contech) or structural steel (Supercor) open bottom box culvert set on contractor designed cast in place concrete footings.

100 yr flood = 1553.15'

Normal WS=1550.42'

Approx stream bottom = 1550.12'

Constructed bottom inside pipe shall be well graded. Shape to replicate existing stream above/below structure.

Too much large rock causes subsurface flow while too much fines erodes. 18-22 large boulders (3'-4' diam) shall be incorporated to match existing with some partially buried depth and some buried depth.

Stream banks shall be constructed inside structure using 12-36" size material with all voids filled and packed with smaller materials. Banks shall be approximately 2' wide and shall taper into natural banks on each end of pipe.

Notes: Installation will follow FP03 specifications.

No work permitted in stream between Sept. 15th and June 15th

Prior to construction install siltation float curtain downstream to trap and settle siltation during construction. Upon project completion the curtain shall be carefully removed to limit accumulated silt from being deposited in stream.

Dewatering and earth coffer dam shall be used. Minimize stream sedimentation by separating disturbed soil and any stockpiles from live water with silt fencing per Best Management Practices for Erosion and Sediment Control (FHWA). All silt fence shall be removed after grasses have been established. If flows are high, contractor may be required to install pumps or diversions.

Downstream flows shall be maintained at all times. Only clean, filtered water may be discharged downstream.

Compact backfill by mechanical means as required by the manufacturer of the structure. Final construction methodology must be approved by the engineer.

Contractor responsible for proper road closure signage complying with Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices. Detour signs shall be installed with Engineer approval.

Field verify all elevations. Final horizontal location to be determined and approved in the field.

Existing culverts shall become the property of the contractor and removed from FS property.

Excess excavation shall be used to cover culvert corners or flatten roadway slopes. If materials remains it shall be disposed of in a Forest Service gravel pit at the direction of the CO.
