Statement of Work Project: Motorized microtome

GENERAL INFORMATION

1.0 Scope of Work:

Motorized microtome will be utilized to section formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissues on to slides for staining.

2.0 Background: Motorized microtome will be utilized to section formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissues on to slides for staining. It will be able to section any thickness from 0.5 micron to 100 microns. It will replace one purchased in 2013.These slides will be utilized for further staining and whole slide imaging.

CONTRACTOR REQUIREMENTS

3.0 Technical Requirements/Tasks:

• Motorized rotary microtome that operates automated, semi-automated or manually

• Personalized coarse feed wheel for trimming

• Can section from 0.5 micron to 100 microns with setting values of 0.5-5 microns in 0.5 micron increments; 5-20 microns in 1 micron increments; 20-609 microns in 5 micron increments and 60-100 in 10 micron increments

• Trimming section thickness settings of 1-600 microns with setting values of 1-10 microns in 1 micron increments; 10-20 microns in 2 micron increments; 20-50 microns in 5 micron increments; 50-100 in 10 micron increments; 100-600 microns in 50 micron increments

• Cutting modes options: rock, single, continuous, step and program

• Vertical stroke of 70mm +/- 1 mm

• Motorized sectioning speeds of 0-420 mm/s

• Memory position to accelerate sectioning

• Specimen retraction in manual and motorized mode that can be turned on or off

• Capable of cutting standard/universal and mega cassettes

• User adjustable force balance system to eliminate injury risk

• Precision orientation system

• 2-in-1 blade holder system for high and low profile blades including the blade holder base

• Antistatic Waste Tray to reduce contamination

• Automatic Electronic Brake along with 2 mechanical locks

• Handle can be centered

• Fast homing to speed the sectioning process

• Coarse feed wheel turn direction can be made clockwise or counterclockwise for personal preference

• Precision orientation with quick clamping system for specimen clamps

• Universal cassette clamp

• Top surface tray—23.5cm W x 27.5cm L to store tools.

• Power cord
