About this file
This document contains questions and answers regarding solicitation number 12505B23Q0202 for next-generation sequencing services. The solicitation requests whole transcriptome sequencing using the NovaSeq platform to generate a minimum of 24 gigabytes of raw data per sample, and confirms this large data requirement is needed for the nature of the project. It also specifies that a web-based user interface capable of providing real-time project progress updates is required. While there is no page limit for proposals, submitters must include sufficient technical information demonstrating their capabilities. The samples will come from multiple species over the life of the contract, though estimated genome sizes may vary by species.

Requests for Information Solicitation 12505B23Q0202
Question 1: In transcriptomic sequencing specifications, it is noted to “conduct ‘mRNA-seq’ sequencing using the NovaSeq platform” and “150 bp paired-end sequencing, with a minimum of 24 Gb of raw data per sample.” The typical sequencing output for mRNA-seq is 6Gb of data per sample. Here it requests 24Gb of raw data per sample, which is the same as the genomic sequencing requirement.
Please confirm the request is really for 24Gb of mRNA-seq data per sample (24Gb of mRNA-seq is A LOT of data).
Answer 1: Yes, 24Gb of raw sequencing data per sample is required due to the nature of the project.
Question 2: Can providing contact information be used in lieu of a web platform to provide real time progress?
Answer 2: No, a web-based user interface capable of providing real-time project progress is required to be provided by service provider.
Question 3: Is there a page limit and/or requirement for separate business and technical proposals?
Answer 3: There is no page limit. All quoters are responsible for submitting sufficient information to show they have the technical capabilities to perform the work.
Question 4: What is the species?
Answer 4: There will be samples from multiple species over the life of the contract.
Question 5: What is the estimated genome size?
Answer 5: The estimated genome size will vary depending on the species from which the samples were derived. There will be samples from multiple species over the life of the contract.
