Questions and Answers, Solicitation 12505B21Q0150, Field Planter

Requirement: Shall have the ability to have cone or vacuum planting and varied seed sizes (for pelleted seed, raw seed, and seed from wild relatives of Beta vulgaris) Question: there are a couple of different types of cones available. What type of cone is required? A 31 cell cone or a Belt Cone Type Seeder?

Answer: Belt cones preferred

Requirement: Shall have the ability to mark alleys.

Question: Is there a preference of alley marking systems? Do they want a Chalk box or Paint Marker?

Answer: Prefer paint marker

Requirement: Shall be able to plant short plots and shift between varieties with ability to rapidly remove seed between seed lots Question: Do they need the ability to plant long plots as well? If so can you specify what the plot length is?

Answer: Standard is 12 or 15 foot rows with 5 foot alleys. Occasionally plant 400 foot rows.

Requirement: 20 inch rows Question: Can you specify the required row unit type? Do they want John Deere or Kinze?

Answer: John Deere preferred

Requirement: Row cleaners Question: There several different styles of row cleaners available do they have a preference?

Answer: No preference on row cleaners as several work.

Requirement: Seed tray for seed packets Question: Does the seed tray need to be adjustable to match the current USDA owned seed boxes? If so, what size is required- 15-30 inch or 12-24 inch?

Answer: Current boxes are 16” x 23” – we would prefer the 15-30 inch adjustable seed tray.
