Statement of Work

Calcasieu Salvage Wood Removal

Scope of Work

The contractor shall provide all materials, labor, equipment, tools, transportation, supervision, expertise, and other incidentals necessary to successfully complete vegetation management practices for the following item within the boundaries of Kisatchie National Forest.

The removal of non-merchantable wood stacked in log piles near the road in the Fullerton Park Recreation area. Purchaser will need to remove the wood piles and unload them at a predetermined disposal area. Because of the decomposition of the wood, a dump truck or a flatbed trailer with rails would be the preferred method of transportation . If there are other alternatives that we might need to consider, please put it in your proposal. There are 5 sets of different sizes. All bids will be accepted on a tonnage basis. (See attached tonnage charts.)

The disposal area is approximately 10.5 miles northeast of Fullerton. All salvage logs must be hauled to disposal area. Salvage material will be placed in disposal area in approximately 4 to 5 stacks no higher than 18 feet. The sets will be designated by the contracting officer representative.

Other Requirements

CONTROL OF EROSION, SEDIMENTATION, AND POLLUTION

(a) Operations shall be scheduled and conducted to minimize erosion of soils and to prevent silting and muddying of streams, rivers, irrigation systems, and impoundments (lakes, reservoirs, etc.).

(b) Pollutants such as fuels, lubricants, bitumen, raw sewage, and other harmful materials shall not be discharged on the ground; into or nearby rivers, streams, or impoundments; or into natural or man-made channels. Wash water or waste from concrete or aggregate operations shall not be allowed to enter live streams prior to treatment by filtration, settling, or other means sufficient to reduce the sediment content to not more than that of the stream into which it is discharged.

(c) Mechanized equipment shall not be operated in flowing streams without written approval by the Contracting Officer and the Contracting Officer Representative.
