Sunshine Water Replacement
Questions and Answers August 19, 2021
Question 1: Do you know the depth of the well?
Answer 1: The well at Sunshine campground is 122 feet deep, with a perforated casing from 91 feet to 122 feet.
Question 2: Will the tanks highlighted needed for the project?
Answer 2: All of the item in the “Key Notes” on drawing U-0 will need to be furnished and installed by the contractor, including the highlighted items: chemical container, chemical spill container, and the three baffle tanks. The highlighted tanks in the treatment system layout on drawing U-0 (three baffle tanks, and one pressure tank), shall be furnished and installed by the contractor.
Question 3: What size are the Baffle tanks?
Answer 3: Each baffle tanks shall be 119 gallons.
Question 4: The spec section 221124 refers to 119 gallon Indoor potable water tanks. Are these tanks the baffle tanks below? If not, the what size are the baffle tanks?
Answer 4: Yes, the “119 gallon indoor potable water tanks” referred to in specification section 221124, are the baffle tanks.
Question 5: Would there be an option to provide a proposal for an alternative of polyethylene tanks for all the tanks needed for this project?
Answer 5: The design for the Sunshine Water System has already been approved by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE). We may be able to accept an alternative tank, but any proposed alternative tank(s) would need to be listed as a Pre-Accepted Treatment Facility water system component on CDPHE’s Pre-Accepted Non-Community Groundwater Source/Chlorine Disinfection/Storage Drinking Water Design Submittal (page 24 of 24), which can be viewed at the following link:

Furthermore, any proposed alternative baffle tank will need to have a baffle factor of 0.7, as recognized by the State of Colorado.
