Install Lenel HSPD-12 Compliant Physical Access Control System (ePACS) Oxford, MS Questions and Answers
1. Will there be a network drop available in the machine shop?
Answer: Yes
2. What location in the main building is planned to house our field hardware and enclosures? Does it have wall space (4’w X 8’h)?
Answer: Room 156. Available wall space 7’ high by 9’ wide.
3. If no network drop in machine shop, is there a location within the machine shop for us to install the equipment enclosures to house the access control field hardware and power supplies? Need about a 4’w X 8’h area near a power source?
Answer: N/A since there is a drop noted above.
4. Are there better scaled or larger drawings available?
Answer: They are plans from other project so there will be a lot of extraneous information on it, but it’s all we have. They are in the attachment titled Recent NSL Oxford Floor Plans.
Again, these were for another project so they are only to be used for reference. Any specifications or other requirements noted in the drawings are unrelated to the project we are requesting quotes for.
5. Is there an existing motor for the gate reader?
Answer: Yes. Present gate is in operable condition and will remain. Only controller and actuator work need be done. Changing from read-in only to read-in & read-out.
6. What type of gate? Swing arm, lift arm, rolling fence or swinging fence?
Answer Existing gate is a rolling fence.
7. Is the building a federally owned property?
Answer: Federally Owned.
8. Does the site have any relationship with a utility finding service?
Answer: Mississippi 811 services this (and all) locations in Mississippi.
9. Does the site have an existing fence contractor or recommendation for the vehicle gate installation?
Answer: Existing gate is sufficient. We just need it converted to read in/read out card operated.
10. Can a bid extension till Sept 11 be provided?
Answer: Yes we can extend the due date for quotes to be September 11.
11. The Badge printer request has no specification. These badge printer range in price and capability. A bidder could price a very low budget printer that may not meet the desired goals if there is not a base line spec.
Answer: The HDP-5000 Dual Sided Printer and that should have been spelled out in the spec document. Somehow it was edited it out, the spec will be revised to include.
Install Lenel HSPD-12 Compliant Physical Access Control System (ePACS) Oxford, MS Questions and Answers
12. Can we assume that conduit installation will be required for the Machine Shop?
Answer: There is existing communications conduit that runs from the main building to the Machine Shop. It is available for use. The contractor would have to inspect it to determine if it would serve their purpose.
13. Can we assume no conduit is required for the main building?
Answer: This is a reasonable assumption
14. Can we assume that up to 40% of the electric locks may need to be changed to a different and possibly more expensive lock based on actual field conditions?
Answer: Presently all the locks are mag locks. If we encounter problems due to changed conditions, we could deal with that with a modification.
15. The gate location based on Google Earth, is several hundred yards away from the main building. There is primarily asphalt and concrete surfaces that will require trenching, and subsequent asphalt and concrete patching. There is no spec on how the concrete or asphalt must be patched nor any clear knowledge as to where the demarcation point into the main building will be located.
Answer: The gate is located less than 200’ from the front door of the main building. There is are existing communications wires that are buried that lead from the main building to the present gate controller. The contractor would have to test the existing wires to see if they are suitable for use. If they are suitable, I’d like to keep the gate controller in the contract.
16. Can we assume any required electrical circuits we need to install are within 200 feet of an electrical panel?
Answer: This is a reasonable assumption. Given the patchwork nature of this building, there’s always the unexpected. But this assumption should be used for the basis of the quotes for consistency.
17. For the required fire system tie-in, we request that the tie-in be performed by the contractor of record who services this site and remove that requirement from the specification.
Answer: Oxford has a Honeywell contractor (M&R from Brandon, MS) that regularly services their location and it would be no trouble to have them make the connection. We will remove this requirement from the specs and pursue that separately.
