About this file
This document contains questions and answers related to federal contract solicitation number 12305B23Q0182 for RNA sequencing services. The solicitation was issued by the Department of Agriculture Agricultural Research Service Field Research Implementation and Information Delivery Northeast Area and seeks sequencing of grapevine RNA on either an Illumina NovaSeq 6000 or NovaSeq XPlus instrument, with 2x150bp reads required. The source material will be provided in two batches of approximately 96 samples each. While Novogene was referenced in the original statement of work, the response clarified any reference to Novogene was unintentional and the requirement is not proprietary to that company.

Question 1:
A NovaSeq 6000 is referenced. We have the 6000, but also have several of the newer
NovaSeq XPlus instruments that are faster and cheaper. Is the NovaSeq 6000 a firm requirement, or may be quote the XPlus? We have internal concordance datasets that show that the XPlus is quantitatively superior to the 6000 in all metrics. We could share that data if necessary.
Answer 1:
XPlus is fine.
Question 2:
96 samples are referenced; would all the source material be sent as one batch?
Answer 2:
No. Vendor should assume that we will ship samples in two batches.
Question 3:
In the Statement of Work, the opening paragraph states that the GGRU in Geneve, NY
“requires the technology platform/ services of Novogene, for RNA Sequencing of
Grapevine”. Please note that Novogene is a supplier / direct competitor of
SeqMatic. We do not see anything in the technical SOW that is proprietary to
Novogene. Was the reference to Novogene in the SOW intentional? Please advise.
Answer 3:
Apologies, that was an unintentional error.
Question 4:
The request is for 2x150 reads, we can certainly do that, but our standard is 2x100 which is usually enough to id transcripts unless we are misunderstanding what you intend to do with the data. Doesn’t matter to us, just want to confirm.
Answer 4:
We require 2x150bp reads.
