UV Sterilizer
Statement of Work: The USDA Agricultural Research Service requires systems for UV disinfection of water within existing recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS). Systems and components must be compatible with existing infrastructure and meet all the minimum specifications provided below. Units and components must be shipped to the National Cold Water Marine Aquaculture Center in Franklin, ME. The government will install the units in the existing systems.
Specifications for (2) UV Sterilizer units:
• Must mount to existing 8-inch PVC flanges that are spaced at 50 inches on center, mounted in a U-shaped configuration, with the unit flanges mounted pointing down
• The UV unit must be constructed out of PVC or other non-corrosive material, stainless steel options will not be considered
• A pre-drilled and threaded hole 0.5 inches in diameter will be provided at the high point of the unit on the side opposite the flanges. This hole should come with removeable threaded plug installed
• Control panel and all other enclosures, except for the main unit, must be NEMA 4X ratings
• Control panel will contain visual indicators that each bulb is functioning
• Control panel will contain an operating hour meter or bulb hour meter for determining when bulbs should be replaced
• Unit will operate on 120v 60Hz 1 Phase standard U.S. power
• Cord harness lengths must be at least four feet in length from the bulbs to the control panel and 10 feet in length from the control panel to the 120 plugs
• The unit should achieve a minimum of 100 mJ/cm2 at a flow of 330 gallons per minute
(GPM) at the end of the bulb’s life assuming a UV transmission of 92% in the water
• The unit should be capable of operating at flow rates between 175 – 330 GPM
• Unit will include an automatic high temperature shutoff switch to prevent over heating of the containment vessel
• Operating and installation instructions including maintenance schedule, specifications and part numbers for all replaceable parts including but not limited to bulbs, quartz sleeves, ballasts, O-rings, and compression fittings.
Specifications for (4) Kits:
Four (4) kits to rebuild and upgrade existing emperor aquatic model# COM6260-STD units
• All components for replacing and upgrading quartz sleeves and bulbs in an existing emperor aquatics model# COM6260-STD housing from 65W bulbs to 135W or greater high output bulbs. There are four bulbs and sleeves total per unit. Kit should contain an
O-rings, compression nuts or other components required to ensure functionality and water-proof integrity
• New ballasts compatible with the bulbs
• Control panel and all other enclosures, must be NEMA 4X ratings
• Control panel will contain visual bulb status display
• Control panel will contain an elapsed running time meter for determining when bulbs should be replaced
• Unit will operate on 120v 60Hz 1 Phase standard U.S. power
• Cord harness lengths must be at least 15 feet from the bulbs to the control panel and 6 feet from the control panel to the 120 plugs.
Spare Bulbs/Sleeves/Orings:
• Sixteen (16) spare bulbs for the UV unit 1
• Sixteen (16) spare quartz sleeves for the UV unit 1
• Sixteen (16) spare O-ring kits for the UV unit 1
• Sixteen (16) spare bulbs for the UV unit 2
• Sixteen (16) spare quartz sleeves for the UV unit 2
• Sixteen (16) spare O-ring kits for the UV unit 2
