EMAIL Question/Answers:
Q: Was the site visit to the Eagle Creek Suspension Bridge Removal & Disposal Project that was held on November 9, 2017 mandatory?
A: The site visit was for the benefit of prospective bidders and was not mandatory.
Q: I have a couple of questions about bonding and insurance requirements. This project would require us to sub out the crane work as well as possible salvage. could you clarify what would be needed for our company as well as the subs.
A: Bond requirements vary based on contract price, please reference FAR 28.102-2 for specifics.
As for Subcontractor work, all work/requirements flows through the Prime contractor, payments, bonding…etc. It is the Prime Contractor responsibility to make sure their subs are capable of performing. Also, I assume you know that the prime contractor has to perform more than 50% of the contract.
Q: Was the site visit to the Eagle Creek Suspension Bridge Removal & Disposal Project that was held on November 9, 2017 mandatory?
A: The site visit was for the benefit of prospective bidders and was not mandatory.
Q: is there a estimated value for the project? Never hurts to ask, Lol!
A: The estimated value of this contract is between $25,000-$100,000.
Q: how far away is the secondary Crossing to get to the other bank? In the one set of old pictures you have from 1997 there are lifts on both sides of the bank?
A: Access to other side is by pedestrian trail only. Shown in the 1997 photos is a man-lift being ‘lifted’ onto the gravel bar by Mobile Crane.
Q: What are the most updated pictures you have available? What is shown?
A: The posted photos are the most current.
Q: What kind of access is there to either bank?
A: As mentioned in the solicitation, paved road accesses one side of bridge, and pedestrian trail on the other side.
Q: Normal water flow depth? Frequency of flash floods?
A: The bidder is responsible to perform any hydrologic analysis deemed necessary. The Bridge is within an area that had a fire a few months ago and any historic hydraulic information would likely no longer apply. Reference ‘Profile View’ on Sheet 1 of 6 of R34601 for channel estimates.
