Solicitation 12010919Q0042_2019 JRD Couverden Road Mtc.

Questions and Answers

No information given on this document amends the solicitation.

Question 1: Is there any structures that could be used for lodging at the work site?

Answer 1: No, there are no FS facilities available for lodging.

Question 2: Does the contractor have to give notice of intent to visit job site location? If so, who should be notified?

Answer 2: No. However, it may be possible to coordinate a pre bid tour if desired. Contact myself (Casey LaVoie 907-828-3260) and I can look into that possibility.

Question 3: CLIN 1, 150 CY of borrow. Is this material already processed and ready to be hauled from the three locations in the solicitation or will the contractor have to make the material?

Answer 3: The 150 CY of unclassified borrow is an “estimated actual quantity” CLIN, and should be readily available within the three pit locations as shown on the map. Minimal processing of rock may be required to meet the size requirements as stated in the FP-14 spec 704.06 max particle size of 24”, and the FSSS spec 204.13(d) finishing requirements of no pieces larger than 6” within the top 6” of the road surface. This work item is intended as a spot surfacing, simply to fill in low spots in the roadbed and any sloughing off of the fill slopes.

Question 4: Solicitation attachment, JRD RD MTCE FY19-BRIDGE RESURFACING, page 3, note 8 DISPOSE OF EXCESS AND WASTE MATERIALS OFF FOREST SERVICE LAND. Can the old materials such as wood products; from the bridge be burned or will it have to be hauled away?

Answer 4: Burning of the untreated wearing surface is acceptable in an approved location, which will most likely be within one of the rockpits, or another approved area nearby. However, no burning of pressure treated materials will be allowed. Also, the contractor will be required to clean up any nails, bolts and nuts that may be attached to the wearing surface.
