This $4.7 million project grant from the Department of Transportation's Federal Transit Administration will fund enhanced mobility services for seniors and individuals with disabilities in Wisconsin through March 2028. Under the Enhanced Mobility of Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities (Section 5310) program, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation will use the funding to support operating projects, mobility management, and vehicle replacements in small urban and rural areas across the state. Specifically, $1.66 million will go towards operating non-traditional transportation services, $937 thousand towards mobility management, and $1.35 million towards replacing buses and minivans. The grant also includes $249 thousand for administration. Local matching funds of $578 thousand in cash and $954 thousand in-kind contributions from sub-recipients will supplement the federal share. The funding will allow WisDOT to improve transportation options for seniors and individuals with disabilities in communities where public transit services may be limited.
