The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) awarded a $2,075,000 Primary Care Training and Enhancement (PCTE) Program grant to Le Moyne College in Syracuse, New York. The purpose of the 5-year LEARN project is to increase the number of physician assistants trained to deliver behavioral health services in rural areas, including prevention, identification, diagnosis, treatment, and referral services. Key project activities include developing a rural-focused curriculum, establishing a 3-month integrated behavioral health clinical rotation, and fostering strategic partnerships to support primary care and behavioral health integration in rural communities. The grant will fund personnel, trainee/preceptor stipends, continuing education, learning module development, and an external evaluation to inform program refinement and sustainability.
